Job Description

Project Accountant 

The Job

  • Location: Sana'a & Hodeidah\Ad Durihmi (with regular travel to other sites).
  • Period: 8 months, renewable subject to performance.
  • Duty Station: Life Makers Meeting Place Organization (LMMPO), Sana'a –Yemen.
  • Terms: Full Time Position (8 Eight hours per working day), with field visits to the work sites.
  • Classification: Financial Management.
  • Expected start Date: As soon as possible.
  • Job grade: - fourth degree.

LMMPO is keen to have a competent candidate to fill the position of Project Accountant.

Purpose/Scope of the task

Financially manages the main and subsidiary tasks of the project, in addition to fully supervising the work team to meet all expenditures according to the project’s financial activities plan.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

1.    Recording all the project financial transactions on the accounting system without any delay. 
2.    Facilitate the financial procedures to implement the project various activities.
3.    Responsible of keeping record of the project expenditures electronically and manually
4.    Analyses financial information.
5.    Responsible to apply the financial policy of LMMPO and the financial guidance of the donor.
6.    Doing the reconciliations.
7.    Direct responsibility for all accounting restrictions, and ensure the validity of the deportation and guidance and ensure the existence of the documents and the legal validity of the registration.
8.    Prepares and posts accounting entries in the accounting software on a regular basis.
9.    Ensures accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions in accordance with financial procedures.
10.    Helps ensure that operations run smoothly through efficient cash-flow management, covering the fund needs of the delegation/structure.
11.    Guarantees proper filing of relevant supporting documents for future reference, including audits.
12.    Performs regular integrity checks of accounting entries and account balances.
13.    Participates in monthly closing activities and is responsible for part of them.
14.    Keeps files up to date at all times and participates in filing relevant supporting documents.
15.    Provides support to other departments and responds to semi-routine and non-standard inquiries when necessary.
16.    Identifies anomalies or other issues and proposes solutions to his/her supervisor.
17.    Carrying out any work assigned to him by the direct responsible for the project.

Qualifications and Skills 

Study and Training:

  • University degree in Accounting.
  • Training courses in the same field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in financial management in local or international organizations.

Languages:

  • Fluent in Arabic and English (Speaking and Writing). 

Skills:

  • Team management and knowledge transfer.
  • decision making
  • Tendency to work with numbers. 
  • Representing the LMMPO .                        
  • Financial analysis ability.
  • Ability to provide recommendations to solve problems

  • Ability to use computer, including Micro-Soft and office programs and accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable accounting standards.
