Position: Project coordinator (Protection)‎ - Female only

Location: Marib, Yemen

Reports to: Deputy Area Manager

Duration: From 1/10/2022 till 31/12/2022; Renewable based on performance and fund availability.‎

Note: Position is open for Yemeni Nationals only.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Deputy Area Manager (DAM), the Project Coordinator (Protection) will dedicate 100% of his/her time to leading, coordinating, and ensuring the high-quality implementation of all protection program activities in the area of assignment, as well as management of day-to-day field activities and ensuring timely reporting and compliance with donor rules and regulations and assisting in new funding opportunities. The DAM will participate in strengthen relationships with partners in program targeted areas. The PC will play a key role in representing RI at sub-cluster meetings, workshops and technical working groups meetings in areas of assignment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical

  • Ensure quality and timely field level implementation of the protection program, against set objectives, targets, work plans and budget.
  • Work closely with DAM and Protection Technical Advisor/ Protection Coordinator to draft supervision guidelines to ensure quality delivery of services at targeted WGSS.
  • Assess and identify the knowledge gaps at WGSS and work together DAM and the technical advisor to set the needed trainings/ on job trainings based on the staff capacity.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, training, and guidance to protection staff to meet the standards and prioritizes the security of beneficiaries and staff.
  • Set weekly and monthly protection work plans of the project with the team and field assessment activities are carried out in a timely, effective, and technically sound manner.
  • Undertakes ongoing visits to sites, assesses capacity and resources, and monitors inputs to strengthen the protection approach.
  • Coordinate with DAM, AM, Office Coordinator, TAs, and MEAL department as relevant for the project implementation.
  • Enhance integration of protection activities with other key programs and coordinate with officers and coordinators in the area of assignment on establishment of integrated service provision, with massive focus on coordination approach.

Program Management

  • Lead the protection team in the area of assignment and working with the Program Officer supervise program implementation.
  • Conduct regular meetings with program staff and share weekly and monthly progress reports with DAM
  • In close coordination with Office Coordinator and DAM, prepare and share monthly, quarterly, annual and other reports required by Donor and local authorities.
  • Oversee protection team recruitment, orientation and performance reviews for the protection team under his/her direct supervision.
  • Ensure successful implementation of program activities and budget management according to program outputs/targets and results.
  • Under direct supervision of DAM, coordinate with the MEAL department in compiling program reports, regular analysis trends and how to improve quality of reporting and program outputs.
  • Coordinate with the MEAL team to review program reporting indicators and reporting tools and ensure program targets are met using indicator / activity tracking tables.
  • Coordinate with the Logistics department to improve supply chain management and accountability for project supplies
  • Responsible to communicate with local counterpart authorities on project feasibility and effectiveness of assistance.
  • Contribute to the establishment/maintenance of a referral pathway, respectful of the confidentiality principle and international SOPs.
  • Conduct follow-up monitoring visits to ensure that needs have been met in a standard manner and ensure accountability of feedback on the assistance received.
  • Attend the field level Protection clusters meeting when requested.
  • Identify capacity-building needs for direct and indirect supervisees and in coordination with Protection Technical Advisor and sector manager to devise individual and team-level capacity-building plans.
  • Prepare/review Protection monthly report/ cluster reports to be provided.

I. Qualifications and Requirements:

  • University degree, preferably in Psychology or in other social science studies relevant to the assignment.
  • Relevant project management experience of three (3) years, preferably in emergency and/or development contexts.
  • Very good written English and ability to write good quality reports.
  • Strong team management skills and ability to relate to and effectively motivate staff.
  • Prior experience working in Protection.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with persons of concern (including internally displaced persons and refugees-returnees) would be a distinct advantage.
  • Prior experience at least two years or familiarity with the NGO sector would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards, with special emphasis on women rights and SGBV, would be a distinct advantage.
  • Good spoken and written English and relevant computer skills. Local language fluency required.
  • A high respect to client/organization confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for people with special needs and other vulnerability.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
  • Ability to represent RI in high-level meetings
  • Self-motivated, results-driven and excellent sense of organization and a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to perform in a demanding environment.
