Project Components:

INTERSOS is implementing an ECHO funded project entitled: ‘Provision of emergency primary & secondary health & nutrition services, with the integration of protection services, for conflict and displacement affected people, in Aden, Hajja, and Lahj Governorates’
In Hajja, The project targets (Ku’yadina, Qafl Shamar and Abs) districts in Hajja, providing protection services integrated with emergency health and nutrition services, for conflict and displacement affected people. 
INTERSOS will provide for protection services (individual case management services – PSS, including internal/external referral for specialized services, such as legal and psychological counseling), integrated with health and nutrition services in Hajja, supported by 4 community outreach volunteers per team ensuring a maximum outreach in the communities. Each teams will cover to the catchment area of 4 health facilities and the IDP sites in Ku’aydina. Direct referrals from health teams will help in the identification of the most vulnerable cases. 
INTERSOS will provide health and nutrition services by supporting in Abs the Health Centre of Deir Al-Hasi, Qafl Shamer hospital and in Ku’aydina the hospital and also the Health Centre of Sawakh, in addition to running a mobile clinis team for IDPs in Ku’aydina IDP sites. INTERSOS’ support provides for MoPHP approved minimal service package (MSP) through incentives for staff, running costs, medical drugs and equipment, and referral ambulance. INTERSOS has protection team workers in the HFs, and catchment areas of HFs.

Job Description:

The social workers based in Hajja per districts, perform individual case management (ICM) services (Psycho-Social First Aid - PSFA, Psycho-Social Counseling - PSC, referral and follow-up) for identified most vulnerable cases (Persons with Specific Needs (PwSN), Child Protection (CP) cases and Women Protection (WP) and conduct awareness sessions on protection-related topics.  
Social workers (SW) work under the supervision of the Case Management Supervisor (CMS), conduct home visits, follow-up on individual cases, receive and refer cases in the component for other INTERSOS projects and other organizations/actors. 
They should act according to the guiding principles of case management including using a survivor-centered approach, respecting confidentiality, and assuring the safety, do no harm, and non-discrimination.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Case Management:

  • Identify, counsel and follow up individual cases (self-referral, internal referral or referral by other actors), and assess their needs. 
  • Provide for PSFA to each individual case identified 
  • Conduct assessment of vulnerable cases, including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well- being
  • Conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of the cases. 
  • Refer cases internally for PSC, legal assistance, cash assistance or other specialized services provided by INTERSOS when needed. 
  • Provide/conduct individual PSC session with identified cases 
  • Ensure coordination with the main service providers in the area of intervention for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing
  • Manage, fill, archive specific forms for cases profiling, referral and weekly reporting to CMS ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness
  • Be available to provide emergency assistance and basic emotional support for urgent cases.
  • Ensure that data protection protocol is respected.
  • Ensure to keep complete and well-organized records.

Psychosocial activities 

  • Support the CMS, activity coordinator, COVs and lawyer in organizing awareness sessions.
  • Support the CMS and Activity Coordinator in establishing close cooperation and linkage with the Community Based Protection Networks in gathering information and receiving referral cases. 

Reporting

  • Provide daily updates to the CMS about new cases assessed
  • Report in detail on all cases with relevant information about the case, background, case plan, follow up and actions taken
  • Assist the CMS in providing reports to the Activity Coordinator or reporting officer of case management activities on a weekly basis

Meetings and Trainings

  • Attend meetings and workshop/training as requested by the Activity Coordinator/supervisor like case management meetings and case conferences
  • Participates in daily/weekly staff meetings
  • Participates in weekly internal case management meetings led by senior case supervisor.
  • Any other task requested in order to achieve the project’s objectives.
  • Always ensure confidentiality and conduct all activities respectfully and sensitively to beneficiaries and staff.

  • Clear & timely communications to line management 
  • Full abiding by INTERSOS internal rules and guidelines and respect INTERSOS Charter of Value and Code of Ethics 

Qualification/level requirements

  • BA in social work – social sciences
  • Min 1 year of professional experience working as a social worker in Yemen, in particular the provision of individual case management and/or collective PSS
  • Demonstrated familiarity with case management principles, standards and procedures, including relevant roll-out of SOPs for different protection typologies
  • Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with different sectoral counterparts/referral pathways
