Job Title: Protection Officer 

Job Level: Category: Officers, Step 3

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning, implementation, management, supervision and providing support of the assigned project to meet the projects objectives within the required timeframe.
  • Cultivate good relations with key humanitarian actors  local and international, including government authorities and non-state actors.
  • Where relevant, liaise with donor and work closely with partners on project updates, site visits and other communication.
  • Contribute to the program’s emergency preparedness initiatives, and in an emergency situation, adapt his/her working arrangements in order to contribute to an effective humanitarian response.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the direct manager

1- Implementation and Monitoring Field Work:

  • Collaborate with project team, local partners, local council and community leaders to support screening and field staff teams to conduct protection monitoring in daily basis.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships and lines of communication with relevant, local partner, local authorities, services providers, and communities, explaining the nature of the project and liaising with them throughout the project.
  • Supervising all duties of a Legal Officers, Psycho-social Officer, Psychological Officers, and Protection Monitors in daily basis and following up their duties regularly.
  • Prepare all the required implementation plans for the project and share it with Project Manager.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and annual progress reports in English and Arabic as requested about achieved activities, challenges and obstacles for remaining activities and suggested solutions and recommendations to Project Manager.
  • Analyzing the most vulnerable cases for assistance and reporting to Project Manager.
  • Participating in the meetings of protection interventions.

2- Capacity Building of targeted groups:

  • Provide capacity building support to Psycho-social, Protection Monitors, IDPs, and CBPNs to encourage local management.
  • Develop training material as needed.
  • Participate in activities relevant to project as per approval by Project Manager.

3- Other Office duties:

  • Develop and organize all data, files and documents.
  • Demonstrate gender sensitivity and show support and respect to all team members.
  • Responsible for the confidentiality and security of data, documents and resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

4- Functional Competencies:

  • Experience in project cycle management and budget management.
  • Ability to frequently travel and work in hardship and non-accompanied locations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and diplomacy.
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills. 
  • Analytical Thinking.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

Contract Duration: 08 months - renewable.

Job Specifications:

Job Requirement (Qualification and Experience)

  • A university degree in, Business Management, Project Management or a related field. 
  • Minimum 5 years work experience with NGOs in project management.
  • Experience in working in the humanitarian or NGO sector.
  • Fluency in English, writing, reading, and speaking.
  • Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations.
  • Ability to adapt within the working environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the specific context and challenges of working in IDP hosting sites.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including local authorities, international organizations, and community members.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and design/ construction applications, such as Word, Excel, and, data collection, analysis, and construction reporting.
  • Experience in conducting assessments, site visits, and monitoring visits
