Job Summary
The WASH Project Officer (PO) will be responsible for implementation of project activities.
Major Responsibilities:
Construction Supervision:
- Ensure that health and safety, and laws for each project activity adhere to the safety guidance, Samaritan's Purse policies, and technical requirements.
- Work with contractor to ensure projects are completed according to the BOQ, to the standard of quality expected, and according to the project implementation plan.
- Inspect the materials delivered to the sites in accordance with the approved quantities and specifications
- Community Mobilization and Communication:
- Communicate with community regarding project activities and community contribution.
- Organize and implement beneficiary feedback system in coordination with the M&E team.
- Report any community concerns to Program Coordinator.
Project Design:
- Work with the Program Coordinator to conduct assessments in project target areas.
- Conduct technical assessments for water and sanitation projects including water quality sampling and percolation tests.
- Collect, compile, and analyze data and report the results in an organized fashion to the WASH Program Coordinator.
- Work with the WASH coordinator in developing designs, BOQs and technical specifications for WASH projects.
Reporting:
- Communicate regular progress updates (daily, weekly, monthly) via phone and written report.
- Collect beneficiary data and ensure it is documented accurately and with confidentiality.
- Collect information such as beneficiary numbers, contractor progress, and success stories to be submitted to the Program Coordinator.
- Report on activities, achievements, challenges faced at the field level to the Program Coordinator.
Hygiene Promotion:
- Organize and implement community hygiene promotion Campaign and Children’s Hygiene and Sanitation Training (CHAST) activities.
- Recruit, organize, train and supervise community health volunteers (CHV’s) in community hygiene promotion campaigns and CHAST activities.
- Work with Program Coordinator to prepare materials for the campaigns and CHAST activities.
- Work with the logistics team to procure items necessary for the hygiene promotion campaigns and CHAST activities.
Project Implementation:
- Work with the WASH team to implement the project in a timely manner.
- Conduct distributions of WASH items.
- Support Program Coordinator in organizing meetings and trainings.
- Support community hygiene promotion campaign organization and implementation as needed.
- Ensure that community committees and water user committees are selected appropriately and established within the community and trained on their roles.
Other duties as assigned.

6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic, English also preferred
7. Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
8. Levelheaded and calm demeanor; ability to be flexible to adapt to a frequently changing work environment
9. Self-starter and motivated to succeed, regardless of the task
10. Willing to travel as required
11. Must have high level of integrity and stewardship
12. Committed to the values and ethics of Samaritan’s Purse
Education / Experience Needed
To perform this job well, a candidate should have 2 years’ experience in the WASH sector, including an understanding of WASH practices and the knowledge to implement WASH activities. A degree in engineering is preferred.
LANGUAGE
The candidate must speak Arabic. An ability to speak English is preferred.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be exposed to loud noises around maintenance and construction workshops.
2. Frequent travel in country with exposure to communicable diseases, hot and humid weather conditions.
