Here at Human Appeal, we have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics and Procurements Officer to be based in our Sana'a Office. This is a one-year fixed contract with a 6-month probation period. Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs, and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide. We have seven International Field Offices across the globe.

CONDITION: Please note that this is a local contract, and for this role, you must have the right to work in Yemen.

Main Job Purpose

The Logistician & Procurements Senior Officer provides technical and operational support in the areas of purchasing, tendering, bids analysis, contracting, warehousing, stock management, import-export activities, and statistics, in accordance with Human Appeal's logistics standards and local legislation. This should be done in full respect of Human Appeal's code of conduct and quality standards procedures.

Accountabilities:

Logistics:

  • May manage and ensure proper filing for some of the following supply-chain activities, depending on the size of the operation.
  • Supply-chain management and planning (managing and following up on requests, providing customer desk service, and carrying out related reporting).
  • Participation in purchase planning (purchase orders, request orders, supplier files, etc.).
  • Warehouse management.
  • Implementation and follow-up for financial and administrative procedures.

Procurements:

  • Conduct research into the availability of goods and services.
  • Independently carry out ordinary procurement for specific sector(s) up to a certain amount.
  • Draft requests for tenders/quotes, selection tables, and contracts and submit them to the hierarchical superior.
  • Follow up on purchases and deliveries, and check that they conform to specifications and contract details.
  • Receive goods and check that they correspond to the quantities and quality ordered.
  • Manage, follow up on, file, and scan invoices and related documents.
  • Participate in updating statistics and reporting.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's or technical degree in logistics or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of work experience in a similar field.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Very good computer skills, especially in Excel.
  • Capacity to apply Human Appeal's rules and procedures.
