Mission and objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that supports human development globally by promoting volunteerism and by mobilizing volunteers. It is administered by UNDP and operates amidst growing recognition that volunteerism makes important contributions, economically and socially, to more cohesive societies by building trust and reciprocity among citizens.

Context
The UNV Field Units (FU) are mainly accountable for the mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers in UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. The UNV Field Units represent and position UNV in the respective countries and bring UNV’s services and solutions closer to its partners from governments, UN entities, civil society and private sector.

Task description

Social Media

  • Administer the UNV Yemen social media platforms and insure active and dynamic interactions.
  • Assist the implementation of the overall UNV Communications Strategy at Yemen level.
  • Promote the UNV talent pool, encourage new applications, and assist new users to register in UVP.
  • Make sure all UNV opportunities for Yemen are posted on UNV Facebook and Twitter accounts
  • Keep tracking the UNV Arab State Facebook and Twitter accounts and adapt relevant information to Yemen context.
  • Engage the UNV Yemen Facebook/Twitter followers in different UNV activities..
  • Liaise with UNV Volunteers to collect images, videos, quotes, success stories to be shared to UNV Twitter and Facebook.

Partnership development:

  • Support the organization of the two upcoming missions of the Regional Office and the Executive Coordinator,
  • Contribute as the key focal point for the organization of the IVD 2022 in Yemen.
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the Country Coordinator.
  • Assess the needs of the UN partners for UN volunteers, communicate needed information, and facilitate partnership meetings and presentations.
  • Join UNV Country Coordinator in meetings with partners and monitor follow up actions,
  • Support development factsheets and promotional material needed for partnership.
  • Support the production of success stories to share with partners and encourage more mobilization.
  • Support the sourcing of national UN Volunteer talents, sharing sample profiles with the UN partners, and develop regular quantitative and qualitative analysis of the national talent pool.
  • Support candidates to register in UVP and upload all their documents.
  • Support host entities in the coordination, organization of candidates’ assessment (e.g. interviews, written tests, desk reviews)

Eligibility criteria

Age: 27 - 80

Nationality

  • Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

Requirements

Required experience

3 years of experience in

  • In Communication, Management and data related work
  • Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others;
  • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
  • Flexible and open to learning and expose to new experiences;

Driving license -

Languages

  • English, Level: Fluent, Desirable
  • Arabic, Level: Fluent, Desirable

Required education level

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in In Business ,Public Administration, Environment Management , communications, or a related field,

Living conditions and remarks
As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan.
