  • Job Title: Project Coordinator 
  • Reporting to: Protection Manager
  • Sector: Shelter/CCCM/ Protection
  • Location: Aden, with frequent travel to project sites.
  • Deadline: 26 February 2025

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities in line with the project’s objectives, work plan, and budget.
  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of all project outputs and activities, including capacity building, grants distribution, awareness campaigns, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Monitor progress against the project timeline and deliverables, identifying and addressing any delays or challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational policies, and local regulations.
  • Oversee the implementation of general protection activities, ensuring that project interventions align with protection principles and best practices.
  • Coordinate protection interventions, including referrals for vulnerable individuals to legal, psychosocial, and medical services.
  • Work closely with humanitarian partners, the GBV Cluster, and other stakeholders to address urgent protection needs.
  • Oversee the selection of CSOs based on predefined criteria, ensuring a transparent and inclusive process.
  • Coordinate capacity assessments of selected CSOs and ensure the development of tailored training programs to address identified gaps.
  • Facilitate the delivery of training sessions on program management, gender mainstreaming, advocacy, and women’s rights.
  • Ensure the provision of essential equipment and resources to CSOs to enhance their operational effectiveness.
  • Manage the competitive grants process, including the solicitation, evaluation, and award of grants to CSOs and women-led businesses.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to grant recipients to ensure effective implementation of funded initiatives.
  • Monitor the impact and effectiveness of grants, ensuring alignment with project objectives and compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Foster strong relationships with CSOs, local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure their active participation and support for project activities.
  • Organize community consultation workshops, conferences, and awareness-raising activities to engage stakeholders and promote gender equality.
  • Represent the organization in coordination meetings, including the Protection Cluster and relevant working groups.
  • Develop and implement a robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework to track project progress, impact, and effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor grant implementation, provide technical assistance, and document lessons learned.
  • Support the development and dissemination of advocacy messages through local media and community engagement activities.
  • Ensure that awareness-raising initiatives address key protection concerns such as gender-based violence (GBV), harmful gender norms, and women’s economic empowerment.
  • Support the communication team to prepare for women advocacy campaigns and monitor media coverage as well as track the reach and impact of advocacy campaigns.
  • Oversee the needs assessment and operational support for safe spaces for women and girls, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Coordinate referral mechanisms for survivors of GBV, linking them to psychosocial, legal, and medical services.
  • Engage community leaders and men in awareness-raising sessions to promote the benefits of safe spaces.
  • Supervise the market assessment to identify opportunities for women’s entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
  • Coordinate business and technical skills training for women and girls, ensuring alignment with market needs.
  • Monitor the implementation of business grants and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to women entrepreneurs.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and submission of high-quality reports on project activities, including progress updates, challenges, and success stories, in compliance with donor requirements and organizational guidelines.
  • Maintain regular communication with the donor, providing updates on project implementation, key achievements, and any challenges requiring support or adjustments.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Education:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the fields of gender equality, women’s empowerment, peace building or capacity building for CSOs.
  • Proven experience in grants management, including solicitation, evaluation, and monitoring.
  • Strong background in designing and delivering training programs and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Experience working with local communities, CSOs, and government authorities.

Skills and Competencies:

 

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of gender equality, women’s rights, and economic empowerment issues.
