Muslim Hands is an international relief and development non-government organization established in 1993. The organization is currently working in 52 countries. Muslim Hands works both directly and with partners to carry out short- and long-term projects in education, health livelihoods, WASH and emergency relief. 
This an exciting time to join an international NGO with over 26 years’ experience across 52 countries. Muslim Hands Yemen is undergoing new and positive changes. We are building on the capacity of the office, looking to implement new and innovative projects alongside opening new fundraising channels. This role is seen as pivotal to the long-term vision for Muslim Hands Yemen. 

Position: Program Officer
Reports to: Program manager.
Location: Marib – essential travel is required to other areas of Yemen
Contract Type: FT (4 month with possibility of extension.

Job Summary:

Muslim Hands is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Program Officer to support the implementation and management of various programs and projects in our Marib field office. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to humanitarian work, a background in project management, and a passion for improving the lives of vulnerable communities.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Project Management:

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects aligned with Muslim Hands' mission and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure that project activities are conducted in accordance with organizational guidelines, timelines, and budgets.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of all project activities and outputs.

2.    Community Engagement:

  • Foster relationships with local communities, partners, and stakeholders to promote project initiatives and gather feedback.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance community participation and ownership of projects.

3.    Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Support the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for assessing project effectiveness and impact.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure project performance and inform reporting processes.
  • Prepare regular reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges for internal and external stakeholders.

4.    Capacity Building:

  • Assist in identifying training needs and designing capacity-building programs for community members and project staff.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to local partners in implementing project activities.

5.    Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance and logistics, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to proposal development and fundraising efforts by providing data and insights on project activities and outcomes.
  • Prepare donor reports and other documentation as required.

6.    Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures, including safeguarding and ethical standards.
  • Identify and address potential risks related to project implementation, ensuring timely mitigation strategies are in place.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in program management or development, preferably in a humanitarian context.
  • Strong understanding of the socio-economic and political landscape of Yemen, particularly in the Marib region.
  • Proven experience in community engagement and participatory approaches.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English; knowledge of local dialects is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a challenging environment.
