STATUS of CONTRACT: The initial contract duration is 9 months, with the possibility of extension based on fund availability and performance.

ABOUT EMPHNET: 

The Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) is a public health nonprofit organization leading support for better health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) and beyond. Established in 2009, EMPHNET has been recognized for advancing applied epidemiology, supporting public health programs, advancing public health research, and empowering communication and networking for improving public health practice. EMPHNET works mainly with ministries of health and public health agencies, while collaborating with stakeholders across the public health system including relevant ministries, universities, community organizations, research institutes, the private sector, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), international organizations, UN agencies, among others.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The purpose of this recruitment is to provide technical support to the EMPHNET public health projects and Polio & Immunization in Yemen through involvement in the technical 
 
preparations, implementation, reporting, and monitoring of the quality of work. This technical work entitles and ensures related work is done according to the EMPHNET standards and as planned. 
The technical work will be under the supervision of the polio & immunization specialist for EMPHNET, in collaboration of other public health Technical Officers /Specialist as needed. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1    Act as an EMPHNET in country technical focal person for supporting     public health projects in Yemen.
2    Coordinate and be the point person for communication between GHD| EMPHNET and all stakeholders in the country including Government, NGOs, UN agencies, and other relevant bodies
3    Represent EMPHNET in partners’ technical meetings public health projects & VPDs and other requested technical meeting in Yemen
4    Provide technical support for implementation and follow-up of public health and polio and immunization projects   activities   
5    Participate in   VPDs and communicable diseases outbreak investigations & response activities as requested by EMPHNET HQ and submit activities reports 
6    Participate in Capacity Building activities and any relevant activities supported by EMPHNET for public health projects, through formal and on-the-job training and providing feedback to   EMPHNET on these activities.
7    Find new opportunities and partnerships in the country. 
8    Develop or assist in developing concept notes and proposals.
9     Perform any other related duties, as required by EMPHNET.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in medicine, public health.
• M.Sc. in public health or any related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced coaching skills.
• Scientific writing (E.g. concept notes, technical guidelines, proposals, others).
• Problem solving.
• Advanced MS skills. 
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
• Communication & presentation skills.
• Monitoring & evaluation skills.
