Position Title: DWH & DB Engineer
Location: Sanaa- Yemen
Reporting Relationships: Lead Data Engineering

Focus and Challenges    

Provide technical system support to all enterprise database servers. Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining a database system primarily with Oracle, SQL-server, and MySQL on Linux/Unix and Windows Platforms and other related sub-systems and their management. Overseeing the full life cycle of back-end development of the business’s Datawarehouse, ETL processes, cube development for database and performance, administration, and dimensional design of the table structure.

Specific Responsibilities

• Implementing, configuring, and troubleshooting database instances, replication, backup, partitions, storage, and access.
• Database Administration, housekeeping, and maintenance, tuning and optimization. 
• Managing the system’s support of the Oracle and SQL server databases and all related logical aspects (tables, indexes, views, etc    ).
• Plan, create, coordinate, and deploy data warehouses and design end-user interfaces.
• Create best practices for data loading and extraction.
• Develop data architecture, data modeling, and ETL mapping solutions within a structured data warehouse environment.
• Develop reporting applications and Datawarehouse consistency and design and build cubes while performing custom scripts.
• Monitor the DWH and BI system’s performance and integrity and provide corrective and preventative maintenance as required.
• Evaluate hardware (CPU, Memory, Storage, tapes) requirements for production, development, test, standby, and DR databases in the whole of the company.
• Responsibilities include installation, administration, operations, support, and maintenance, monitoring & up-gradation of database servers to ensure availability and security with optimal performance primarily.
• Recommends solutions and follows standards on database physical structure, functional capabilities, security & backups, and restore strategy.
• Maintains database performance by calculating optimum parameter values, implementing new releases, and completing maintenance requirements.
• Investigate database-related problems/queries submitted by the IT and propose workaround and solutions.
• Responsible for implementing, managing, and tuning high availability 24x7 databases.

Qualifications & Experience

• University degree in Information Technology-related field of study, with solid experience in databases and reporting.

MUST have recent experience with:

In-depth experience in Oracle database architecture, administration, and development. In-depth SQL-server database architecture, administration, and development experience.
Experience with database replication, hot standby, clustering, database engine storage management, and table partitioning.
Excellent Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL development. Excellent experience in Information Systems
Good familiarity with Linux/Unix platforms.
 
Good to have knowledge of financial applications.
Operating systems & OS-level scripting concepts & performance monitoring. Backup solutions.
User account, roles policies, and security administration. Data Storage architecture.
