YLG is a not-for-profit guarantee provider established by the Social Fund for Development in 2017 to increase the facilitation of credit to enterprise owners for growth and expansion.
YLG provides partial guarantees on loans made by PFIs (banks and microfinance institutions MFIs) to micro and small enterprise borrowers located in the region. YLG aims to contribute to the creation of new jobs and the development of existing and start-up projects.
Portfolio Guarantee Model:
Funded by the WB, YLG will establish the Portfolio Guarantee Model (PGM), and through extending the Portfolio Guarantee to PFIs, YLG intends to strengthen the ability to provide loans to Qualifying Borrowers in Yemen, thereby aiming to create positive externalities through improved job retention, job creation and economic development.
Towards this end, YLG is currently looking to hire a Risk Assistant to work in the risk and M&E department. S/He will work under the management of YLG Risk and M&E Officer, to undertake the following:

Key responsibilities and tasks include:

• Assist in Developing a risk management plan designed to determine the level of operational risk the YLG is willing to accept compared to the cost of additional risk mitigation efforts.
• Monitoring changes in the business environment to determine if changes to the risk framework used by the YLG are necessary.
• Assist in establishing risk management parameters and internal controls related to all cash flowing into and from the YLG. This includes cash used to pay guarantees and regular expenses of the YLG as well as investments made with the YLG's capital.
• Overseeing the risk associated with the Information Technology function. This includes ensuring that any IT contractors are compliant with the latest computer security features as well as enforcing password protocols for YLG staff. It also includes assuring the security of all accounting, human resource and other YLG systems that contain private or personal data.
• Review the YLG marketing plan to make sure it does not create any risks and provide input on marketing materials and the social media strategy.
• Monitoring any open legal issues and, with the assistance of the Accounting Officer.
• Perform other duties assigned by the YLG Managing Director and Risk Officer. 

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor Degree from a reputable university in accounting, finance, business, or any other related field.
• One year of experience or training consists of a financial institution operations, sales or customer services background.
• Competent with the use of computers.
• Excellent command of both Arabic and English (writing and speaking).
• Ability to work overtime and for long hours.
• Traveling across the country and abroad will be required.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
