Contract Duration: One year

Attadhamon Foundation for Development (AFD) is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) that was established in May 2000 in Yemen. 

We work among women, youth and children to achieve human noble purposes, and objectives, such as empowerment, elimination of discrimination, the reduction of poverty, creation of equal opportunities to achieve social justice and comprehensive development, to raise the standard of living for the family and the community. AFD works in partnership with society, communities, international agencies, and active partners.

Attadhamon aims to accomplish these goals through implementing its core programs: food security and livelihoods ; wash; education; child protection and environment .

Job Description: 

This position will provide full support to the MEAL activities, including data entry and data analysis, and to monitor project objectives. Moreover, to strengthen accountability systems to ensure that support is extended to all beneficiaries. carrying out routine M&E tasks & reporting, ensuring proper documentation.

The MEAL assistant will also support in strengthening the capacity of AFD project staff in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning. comply with its polices and practice with respect to code of conduct, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure local authorities and communities have been sensitized to the project’s objectives, activities, and selection criteria and that these processes have been adhered to during project selection.
  • Take into account the structures of local government and communities and ensure all project activities have considered the needs of children, women, vulnerable groups, and the environment.
  • Ensure that the planned activities are conducted timely and beneficiaries receive the items without hindrances.
  • Assist in conducting baseline and end line surveys, verifications, DDM, PDMs, observational monitoring, exit interviews, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews; ensuring that quality data is collected from the field.
  • Handle feedback mechanism data, and ensuring that complaints and suggestions are followed up on by the project team.
  • Assist in creating appropriate monitoring tools for project impact, quality, post distribution monitoring, etc.
  • Conduct regular feedback sessions with the project team to ensure that all findings are addressed and adjustments made to the project throughout implementation.
  • Prepare a detailed implementation plan (monthly/weekly plans).
  • Supervise casual labors in collection of data during field monitoring activities.
  • Perform analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, producing graphics and summaries, leading to dashboards with presenting the results of the analysis.
  • Carry out regular implementation monitoring and submit relevant reports to the project coordinator (weekly, monthly report and project final evaluation report).
  • Participate in field office meetings with management and other departments, as required.
  • Ensure quality and integrity of implementation and administrative systems.
  • Participate in the documenting lessons learnt, best practice and case studies to contribute to sector learning.
  • Identify potential problems in the project implementation in the field and discuss suggested solution with local authorities and/or report to the project coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with the project team to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Help in ensuring that resources are used efficiently.
  • Any other tasks assigned from the program manager.

Essential Requirements

  • BSc/BA degree in social sciences, development studies, information management, management sciences and other relevant discipline.
  • Two years of experience working with INGOs/NGOs.
  • One year experience working in Food Security and Livelihoods activities & WASH interventions.
  • Strong ability to verbally communicate complex ideas to rural populations.
  • Ability to diplomatically and sensitively resolve conflicts within and between communities/stakeholders. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively to the field, under sometimes difficult geographical nature.
  • Ability to organize time, manage multiple tasks, and analyze information from many sources.
  • Experience in supervising others and managing their performance.
  • Experience in writing and compiling narrative and analytical reports in English.
  • Communication skills to operate with a multinational and multilingual team.
  • Computer skills to create and input into Word and Excel documents.
  • Fluency in English (speaking, writing, reading, and typing).  
  • Knowledge of the areas of intervention (Aden and Lahj Governorates) and ability to relate with stakeholders.
