Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium in Yemen mission is looking for Yemeni nationals to recruit for the Biomed Technician position:

Location: Mocha Project
Contract Duration – 1-year renewable Contract type: Fixed – Term Reporting to: Logistics Manager

MAIN PURPOSE

Performing autonomously and following up, the maintenance and correct repair of the biomed equipment in the project/mission and ensuring regularly that the usual medical maintenance and cleaning are done properly according to MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure the equipment are in perfect running conditions

Accountabilities

• Performing and carrying out, all necessary complex/advanced installation, maintenance/repair of MSF biomedical equipment and ensuring that as few items are out of service at any given time. This includes the following tasks:
• Organizing and participating in the installation of biomedical equipment
• Following the schedule and carrying out preventive and curative maintenance works for the equipment according to the MSF and/or manufacturer's protocols, manuals, and recommendations and ensuring that cleaning and simple maintenance are properly carried out by medical staff
• Reporting any issues or problems on biomed equipment to his/her supervisor and proposing solutions (training of staff on a device, operating procedures, etc.). If maintenance work requires further assistance, documentation or additional tools, this shall be requested from and provided by his/her supervisor.
• Participating in organising user training where required
• Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage
• Responsible for the equipment and tools (including extinguishers), checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
• Keeping working area clean and tidy.
• Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to maintenance are always completed (including date of intervention, replaced parts, problems and solutions) and preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance

MSF Section/Context Specifics

• Working with collaboration with MOH medical team by providing technical support, performing, and carrying out the preventive and corrective maintenance in Mocha general hospital , participate in the installation of any medical equipment according to MSF standard.
• Maintain biomed equipment inventories and all medical equipment shall be in the inventory sheet of the project and ensure that TMS is up to date.
• In close collaboration with medical team to prepare contingency plan for the medical equipment and specially for the sensitive equipment in the project.
• Prepare the yearly chronogram (1M, 3M, 6M, and 12M) for the preventive maintenance of all medical equipment in the project and follow/ monitor it and be sure that the chronogram is updated and to be share with line manager in monthly basis.
• Provide training for the new medical staff and schedule a refresher training for MOH staff from time to time in Mocha general hospital.
• Participate and advice medical team during the preparing of the IMO(Q1,Q2,Q3, and Q4) and be sure that a good plan for consumable spare parts in stock based on MSF standard and protocols.
• Archiving management to be sure that all medical devices have a proper recording after the completion of the preventive and corrective maintenance to be able to do analyzing in case if needed and utilizing logbook for all medical devises in Mocha project.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma as Biomedical technician preferred
• Diploma as mechanical or electrical technician

Experience

• Demonstrable technical skills and understanding
• Experience in a technical field. (Minimum 2 years' experience). Pedagogical skills are an asset

Language:

• Mission language and local language essential

Knowledge:

• Know and understand all the biomedical devices present on the project(s) including the operating principle, use and technical documentation, of each biomedical equipment on the project/mission
