Background

The Society for Humanitarian Solidarity (SHS) is a nonprofit humanitarian NGO based in the in Aden, Yemen. It was founded in 1995.The SHS provides assistance to refugees and migrants who arrive in Yemen every year. The organization also assists the local community in Yemen. The NGO won the Nansen Refugee Award, dedicated by the UNCHR. SHS has partnerships with UNCHR, OCHA, and WFP.

Project overview:

“With the funding of WFP, SHS has implemented a project for community- based supplementary feeding program BSFP in Aden governorates as preventive measures to fight malnutrition in Yemen especially in the vulnerable people.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains financial records for project or other office accounts for which responsibility is assigned. Codes and records receipts and payments, assures accuracy of computation and completeness of documents and maintains continuing status of allotments against obligations;
  • Prepares recurring reports on assigned accounts, noting problems resulting from excess cost or less-than-expected receipts.  Prepares special reports to clarify problems or as requested for other reasons;
  • Calculates and compiles cost estimates and projected budget requirements and assists in preparation of budget statements for area of assignment;
  • Prepares routine correspondence and maintains personal and telephone contracts with others to discuss matters concerning accounts and related assignments;
  • Maintains contacts with local banks to clarify questions pertaining to office bank accounts;

Qualifications and requirements

  • A diploma in Accounting is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of  3  year’s work experience in a similar field is required.
  • Good computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, are required. 
  • Sound knowledge of Accounting software is desired.
  • General knowledge of tax regulations and laws for non-profit organizations is desired.
