Overview:
The European Union Delegation to Yemen is focused on enhancing the visibility and understanding of its partnership with Yemen, targeting key groups such as women, youth, civil society, and local authorities. This initiative aims to create high-impact strategic communication content that showcases the EU’s contributions to Yemen’s resilience, addressing basic needs, and fostering growth. Yemen Aid, the implementation partner, is now seeking a skilled Research Consultant to support a project aimed at mapping and analyzing the EU-Yemen partnership, identifying communication channels, and helping produce data-driven content.
- Position: Data Analyst
- Location: Aden, Yemen
- Contract Duration: 6 months with the potential for renewal
- Application Deadline: February 1, 2025
Responsibilities:
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data collected through surveys, interviews, and focus groups to identify key trends, themes, and actionable insights.
- Translate raw data into meaningful findings that inform communication strategies and project outcomes.
- Develop data-driven recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of EU projects and their communication efforts.
- Create clear and compelling data visualizations (e.g., dashboards, infographics, and charts) to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Work closely with researchers to refine data collection tools and ensure alignment with analysis goals.
- Provide feedback on data quality and suggest improvements for future data collection processes.
- Support the design of metrics and indicators to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies.
- Draft concise and impactful reports summarizing key insights, challenges, and opportunities identified in the data.
- Collaborate with the content creation team to incorporate data insights into public-facing materials, such as human-interest stories, videos, and presentations.
- Deliver bi-weekly reports summarizing progress, data insights, and any challenges encountered during analysis.
- Provide feedback to the research team on data gaps or areas requiring further exploration.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in multicultural environments.
- High proficiency in Arabic (native) and English (C2 level) for all deliverables.
- Competency in social media content creation and multimedia tools is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in data analysis, with a focus on development, humanitarian, or communication projects.
- Understand data analysis tools and software, such as SQL, Python, R, Excel, Tableau, SPSS and/or Power BI.
- At least 4 years of proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in the public sector.
- Knowledge of Yemen’s socio-political landscape.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to challenging and unpredictable conditions.
- Awareness of and respect for cultural sensitivities and gender equity.
