Project objectives: 

Project title:Conflict and displacement affected communities in Hajja, Aden, Lahj have access to quality emergency health, nutrition, and protection services.

The proposed project aims at an integrated multi-sector response within Hajja governorates, further building on the achievement of the previous ECHO funded actions.  The new intervention aims at enlarging the geographical coverage area in order to address specific gaps and needs, with particular attention to Hajja, considering the high concentration of IDPs and the limited humanitarian presence in this area (especially for protection). The project provides protection services (prevention and response), combined with nutritional care and treatment for CU5 and PLW suffering from acute malnutrition, and with WASH services for conflict affected communities. 
INTERSOS will also respond to the needs of the population through WASH programming providing targeted communities with both soft and hard services including rehabilitation of drinking water supply and outreach through hygiene promotion.

Purpose /Objectives:

The Hygiene Promotion team leader will be responsible to plan and organize community awareness on hygiene related issues, community mobilization and monitoring and reporting of all the HP activities concerning hygiene communities’ awareness campaigns and sessions, beside identifying problems and reporting on WASH needs and concerns in the target areas.

Responsibilities/duties:

1.    Work towards the achievement of overall goals through effective supervision of hygiene promotion related activities and lateral relations and teamwork.
2.    Plan, monitor and supervise the hygiene promoter and community hygiene volunteers’ activities, to ensure the quality of implementation in coordination with the WASH AC
3.    Support in distribution of hygiene kits and preparing the related reports
4.    Ensure appropriate community involvement and delivery of essential hygiene services and facilities.
5.    Ensure proper coordination of HP sessions and other activities in coordination with WASH AC 
6.    Ensure the capacity building of hygiene promoters and community hygiene volunteers,
7.    Monitor the hygiene promotion activities to ensure the quality of deliverable activities.
8.    Coordinate with the support department to ensure the proper implementation of the HP sessions
9.    Lead in preparing HP materials in coordination with WASH AC and WASH Expert
10.    Ensure archiving of the the related HP documents
11.    Prepare weekly/monthly reports of the HP activities
12.    Collect lessons learnt from the HP sessions
13.    Ensure that community/beneficiary feedback are collected and reported on regular basis;
14.    Any other task not here listed and necessary to the project achievement in the sector and area of assignment.

In addition to:

• Familiar with water quality standards and testing procedures
• Excellent communication skills with different population groups (age, gender, social status, etc.)
• Clear & timely communications to line management
• Very good knowledge of INTERSOS project, abiding by INTERSOS internal rules and guidelines and respect INTERSOS Charter of Value and Code of Ethics 

Qualification/level requirements

Minimum requirements

• A minimum Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or similar fields high desirable;
• 2 years of professional experience working in hygiene promotion;
• Prior experience in working and/or coordinating with other NGOs; 
• Strong diplomatic, interpersonal and communications skills;
• Training skills;
• Native Arabic speaker with good knowledge of English 

Desirable requirements:

• Knowledge of the area of responsibility;
• Prior experience in WASH projects

Other requirements:

• Attention to detail and structured way of approaching tasks;
• Able to ensure quick quality delivery in stressful environment;
• Ability to adhere to deadlines and respect line management;
• Ability to deal with heavy work pressure;
