Job Description

  • Location: Aden city with frequent travel to Al Qabbaytah & Al Maqatirah District, Lahj    
  • Reporting to: Project Manager

  • Type: Full-Time Position  

1. Background

YKF partnered with Save the Children to implement the “Building Resilience through Integrated Community-based and Humanitarian Systems Transformation and Leadership in Yemen" (BRIGHTLY) project. The Project Officer will manage the Project Assistants and will work in various locations of the project's operational sites. She/he will oversee program activities in the targeted areas and will implement a high-quality day-to-day implementation of the project. With a focus on livelihoods and food security, disaster risk reduction, and natural resource management, she/he will oversee the implementation of (Unconditional Cash Transfer, Distribution of Livestock, and Beekeeping) activities. She/he will ensure timely implementation, monitor work progress, and complete the handover process. The Officer will represent YKF during community meetings and ensure high-quality projects are delivered. She/he will work alongside MEAL staff and assistants in the field to effectively implement the project, adjust activities accordingly, and ensure success stories and case studies are developed regularly.

2. Responsibilities

The Project Officer will have the following key responsibilities:

1.    Work as an assistant to the Project Manager and provide support in comprehensively managing the project.
2.    Help in planning and coordinating resources, following up on the schedule, and controlling costs.
3.    Follow up on the project progress, analyze data, and submit reports to the Project Manager.
4.    Help in negotiating with the concerned authorities, dealing with problems, and managing risk.
5.    Provide all the details of the implementation of the plan and its difficulties.
6.    Participate in choosing, appointing, and following up on the performance of the project employees.
7.    Direct the project employees to perform their duties according to their job descriptions.
8.    Represent YKF in all meetings regarding the implementation of the project and communicate with other authorities concerned with implementation.
9.    Coordinate all projects and follow up with the fieldwork team in the project in the implementation of the tasks assigned to them and ensure their implementation.
10.    Prepare a report on the final results, recommendations, and necessary proposals.
11.    Carry out any other tasks entrusted to serve the interest of work.
12.    Attend the Cluster meetings upon assignment.
13.    Apply all financial and administrative regulations as well as penalties and violations.

3. Qualifications and Experience

1.    Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years experience in food security and livelihoods work, economic recovery, and cash transfer programming with INGOs or local NGOs in similar fields.
2.    Extensive work experience in social work with a focus on community development and mobilization, data management, and livelihoods.
3.    Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, and the capability to create strong relationships between all team members and the community.
4.    Strong negotiation and communication skills.
5.    Self-motivated.
6.    Strong training facilitation skills.
7.    Good English speaking and writing skills.
8.    Good computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
9.    Good analytical skills and data management skills.
