Position Title: Civil Engineer
Duty Station: Al-Mosaymer District - Lahj, Yemen. Field-based/periodic site presence at Al-Haumara and Al-Jrab dams’ sites as required by the projects. Daily site presence is not required unless specifically requested by UNDP based on implementation needs.
National or International Consultancy:  National
Duration: Three (3) Months with the possibility of extension subject to project completion.

Academic Qualifications

• B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering is required. A higher degree in civil engineering, water resources, hydraulic structures, construction management, or related field is desirable.

Minimum years of relevant work experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in civil engineering, construction supervision, site monitoring, contract management, infrastructure works, and follow-up implementation. Experience with water storage infrastructure, dams, gabions, stone works, channel protection, spillways, or similar rural infrastructures are strongly preferred.
• Experience supervising similar infrastructure projects; 
• Experience in reviewing drawings, BOQs, technical specifications, work schedules, method statements. 
• Experience in preparation of progress reports, measurement sheets, and payment documents; Preparing technical reports and field monitoring notes; 
• Facilitating coordination between clients, contractors, consultants, local authorities, end-users, and community committees; 
• Good command of using MS Office and relevant engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and design programs.
• Knowledge of international construction standards, FIDIC conditions, and UN/INGO procedures is an asset. 

Required Language(s)  

• Fluency in Arabic is required. Working knowledge of English is required, particularly for written reporting and communication with UNDP.
