Duration of Assignment: The employment contract is for one year, renewable based on satisfactory performance evaluation.
Who are we?
BCFHD is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization that was established in 1996 aiming at achieving Sustainable Development Goals and Humanitarian Response through implementing various programs and projects that provide humanitarian and development services to the community. BCFHD works in all governorates of the Republic of Yemen in humanitarian and development fields in several key sectors including Food Security & livelihoods, Education, Protection, WASH, and Shelter.
Job Purpose
The Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) Field Officer is responsible for the day-to-day field implementation and technical supervision of BCFHD's Climate Smart Agriculture and agroecology interventions. The position provides technical support to farmers, farmer groups, and community structures, ensuring that project activities are implemented effectively, meet quality standards, and contribute to climate resilience and sustainable agricultural production.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the field implementation of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) and agroecology activities in the target communities.
- Support the establishment and operation of Resilient Farming Training Hubs (RFTHs), demonstration farms, and Farmer Field Schools (FFSs), ensuring high-quality implementation.
- Provide technical guidance and extension services to farmers and producer groups on climate-resilient agricultural practices.
- Monitor activities related to soil and water management, soil fertility improvement, integrated pest management, and sustainable natural resource use.
- Supervise the distribution and proper utilization of agricultural inputs provided through the project.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, identify implementation challenges, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with local authorities, Agriculture Offices, and community structures to facilitate project implementation.
- Prepare field reports, work plans, technical updates, and documentation of achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to collect, verify, and report project performance data.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, donor requirements, safeguarding principles, and BCFHD policies.
- Perform any other project-related duties assigned by the Project Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Rural Development, or another relevant discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in agricultural development, food security, or livelihoods projects.
- Previous experience in Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), agroecology, agricultural extension, or resilience programming is highly desirable.
- Experience working with national or international NGOs is an advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of Climate Smart Agriculture and agroecological practices.
- Experience in agricultural extension and working directly with farming communities.
- Strong field supervision, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good command of written and spoken Arabic and English.
