FEMALE PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Location: MSFF –Saadah/Hayden
Contract duration: 1 year with three months trial period.
Contract type: Full time contract
Report to: Medical activity manager

Main Purpose
Following medical prescription, planning and carrying out individual treatment programmes, by assessing patients’ physical state, in order to maintain, rehabilitate the physical well-being of the patient and improve physical functionality.
Accountabilities
- Assess patient physical capacities, using different procedures (e.g. functional capacity tests) in order to set up treatment objectives with the patient and therefore improve patient's health and wellbeing.
- Elaborate and implement physiotherapy programmes, including physiotherapy exercises, manipulations, massages, education, utilization of physiotherapy devices and orthopaedic equipment, educating and advising patients and their careers on how to prevent and/or improve conditions, to accelerate and improve activity results.
- Train patients and caretakers on how to avoid injury to create preventive behaviours and home exercises.
- Actively monitor and report physiotherapy activities (correctly filling in patient files, forms, statistics, and reports) and analyse these statistics in order to improve quality service, preserving patient’s data traceability.
- Take care of physiotherapy equipment, managing the stock, making orders according to activity and cleaning up the equipment, in order to ensure its continuous availability and quality of service.
- Report to the Medical Referent any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines in order to implement the appropriate measures.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
SPECIFIC TASKS
- Particiapte actively in the medical round with the OBGYN and assess women passive, or if proposed by the OBGYN specialist, in the department who need session for related pathologies e.g. pelvic floor wekness due to repeated or complicated deliveries, urine incontinence…etc
- Active participation to medical rounds in HDU, IPD male and female, and OBGYN IPD with the surgeon, anaesthetist and OBGYN specialist.
- Answer to the physio needs in the paediatric wards which includes the daily screening, neuromotor rehabilitation and caretaker education alongside group sessions and pluridisciplinary activities/information on child development.
- Support the ER team to perform complicated backslabs and PoP in the ER with training and guidance if necessary.
- Collaborate with the surgeon for the follow-up of the post-operative cases and the physiotherapy follow-up of the fractures according to surgical team’s plan
- Perform physiotherapy inside the OT under general anesthesia for burn patients after discussion with the surgeon
- Be the focal point for collaboration with ICRC in Saada to refer patients with specific physio and prosthesis needs (amputated patients, burned patients, specific orthopaedic needs)
QUALITY OF CARE
- Implementation and following MSF protocols concerning Physiotherapy
- Ensuring proper documentation concerning physiotherapy assessment and plan in patients’ files
- In collaboration with MAM, work on improving quality of care by assessing training needs and providing trainings to the medical team (Pediatric IPD/HDU/IPD male and female) about physiotherapy care
- Always respect patients confidentiality
- Respect hygiene measures for infection control
- Ensure good communication within the physiotherapy team and with patients and families for continuity of care
DATA
- Ensure the collection of physiotherapy data in collaboration with data officer
- Prepare physio monthly sitrep in collaboration with the MAM, report to the MedRef
Requirements
Gender: Female
Education: Essential, Physiotherapist official degree/diploma mandatory.
Experience
- Experienced physiotherapist
- Previous experience with an NGO and/or in Paediatrics is a plus
Languages: Arabic, English fluent
Competencies: Results, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, service
