ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, nutrition, WASH, food security, livelihoods, and protection.

SUMMARY:
The Field Assistant will support the HEAD program in Taiz, Yemen, by assisting with school rehabilitation (classrooms, WASH, child-friendly infrastructure), teacher training on protection and pedagogy, and the documented distribution of teacher incentives. The role involves community engagement with school councils and parents, establishing child protection referral/complaint mechanisms, managing feedback channels, and supporting reporting and coordination with local education authorities and cluster partners.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Assist in monitoring minor rehabilitation works in four target schools, including classroom repairs, WASH facility improvements, and installation of child-friendly infrastructure.
- Support the organization and implementation of teacher training sessions on conflict-sensitive education, child protection, psychosocial support, and pedagogical methods.
- Assist with the controlled distribution of monetary incentives to teachers and education personnel, ensuring proper documentation through payment registries and verification sheets.
- Participate in baseline and endline assessments, conduct routine field monitoring visits, and assist with data quality checks and beneficiary satisfaction surveys.
- Support participatory consultations with school management committees, parents' councils, and community members; facilitate focus group discussions with children, parents, and caregivers.
- Assist in establishing school-based referral and complaint mechanisms; support case documentation and follow-up on protection concerns.
- Help maintain accessible feedback channels including complaint boxes, helpdesks, and community reporting systems; document and track feedback for project adjustments.
- Assist with narrative progress reporting; contribute to documentation of lessons learned and best practices, and successful stories.
- Adhere to the organization’s safeguarding framework, including Protection from (PSEA), child protection, anti-harassment, and ethical conduct policies, ensuring alignment with international standards (e.g., Core Humanitarian Standard, UN CRC).
- Promptly report safeguarding concerns or violations through designated channels, maintain confidentiality, and participate in mandatory safeguarding training to uphold a safe, inclusive environment for all stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, social science, Education, or relevant field is required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in Field Assistant Positions, preferably in Humanitarian NGOs (in education or child protection).
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
- Experience in Education in Emergencies, Child Protection, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) is an added advantage
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
- Understanding of integrated approaches combining education, protection, WASH, and psychosocial support.
- Knowledge of conflict-sensitive approaches and Do-No-Harm principles.
- Experience with community engagement and participatory methods.
- Experience working in Al-Wazi’iyah District or similar conflict-affected contexts.
- Knowledge of or experience working with marginalized communities such as IDPs and the Muhamasheen population.
- Understanding of gender-sensitive programming and inclusive education approaches.
- Ability to work under pressure and in challenging security environments.
- Team player with positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Have an experience with ADRA is preferable and adds value
