Position Title: Health and Protection Field Coordinator
Location: Abyan Governorate – Ahwar District, Yemen
Reports to: Health and Protection Program Officer / Protection Specialist
Contract Type: Full-time
Duration: 4 months
The National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response (NAHR) is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) that was established June 2012 in Yemen. Our vision is a peaceful and stable Yemen free of poverty, in which all people have equal access to basic needs and human rights, and our mission is to provide an integrated humanitarian and development response to aid Yemen and other conflict-affected countries through a professional, neutral, and transparent approach.
We aim to achieve our overall vision and mission by working to enhance local communities' development and stability through identifying structural causes of poverty, raising awareness, increasing access to basic services, and focusing on building citizens' capacities, especially women and youth, so as to enable their participation in the decision-making process that leads to sustainable development and a peaceful society within their developing and conflict-affected countries. NAHR aims to accomplish these goals through its seven core programs: Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL); Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH); Health and Nutrition; Education; Gender and Protection; Shelter and Non-food items (NFIs); and Peacebuilding and Governance.
In the process of recruitment, selection, and appointment NAHR implement a range of procedures and actions including Criminal Background Checks/ International vetting/Certificate of good conduct to ensure children and vulnerable adults are safeguarded and abuse is prevented.
NAHR has zero tolerance on sexual exploitation and abuse. All employment offers are conditional upon the receipt of satisfactory references and the signing our code of conduct, Safeguarding Policy with a particular focus on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Child Safeguarding. This position will also be subject to robust reference and background screening checks.

1. Background
NAHR implements integrated Health and Protection interventions in Abyan Governorate, Ahwar District, aiming to improve access to lifesaving and essential healthcare and protection services for migrants, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities.
Through a mobile clinic approach, the project delivers primary health care, reproductive health, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and protection services (including GBV case management, child protection, and referral services) to underserved and hard-to-reach populations.
The Health and Protection Field Coordinator plays a key role in overseeing, coordinating, and ensuring high-quality delivery of these mobile clinic operations in Ahwar.
2. Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this position is to lead, coordinate, and supervise all health and protection activities implemented through the mobile clinic in Ahwar District, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to humanitarian and donor standards, and effective coordination with local authorities, community leaders, and partners.
The position will also focus on strengthening service integration between health and protection components, promoting accountability and inclusion of vulnerable groups — especially migrants, IDPs, women, and children.
3. Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Coordination
- Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the mobile health and protection team in Ahwar District.
- Ensure the provision of primary health care, reproductive health, MHPSS, and protection services, in line with project objectives and national protocols.
- Monitor service delivery at the mobile clinic and through community outreach to ensure quality, accessibility, and inclusion.
- Identify needs and gaps among migrants, IDPs, and host communities, ensuring responsive planning and resource allocation.
- Liaise with the District Health Office (DHO), MoPHP, and Protection Cluster partners to maintain alignment with national health and protection frameworks.
- Oversee referral systems between health, MHPSS, and GBV services and ensure confidentiality and survivor-centered approaches.
Team Management & Capacity Building
- Supervise and support the multidisciplinary mobile team (health and protection staff).
- Ensure staff performance appraisals, capacity development, and ongoing technical guidance.
- Facilitate training for field staff on GBV principles, PSEA, first aid, infection prevention and control (IPC), and referral pathways.
- Organize weekly coordination meetings with the mobile team and ensure clear communication with the Program Manager.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Track and report on mobile clinic activities, including consultations, referrals, awareness sessions, and protection cases.
- Ensure proper use and submission of data collection tools and activity trackers.
- Coordinate with the MEAL team to ensure data quality, beneficiary feedback, and lessons learned are integrated into program improvements.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly reports, and donor reporting requirements.
Coordination & Representation
- Represent the organization in district-level coordination meetings (Health Cluster, Protection Sub-Cluster, and Migration Working Group).
- Maintain active communication with local authorities, community committees, and humanitarian partners operating in Ahwar.
- Facilitate field visits by donors, HQ, and partners, ensuring compliance with visibility and documentation requirements.
- Build and maintain trust-based relationships with migrant communities, local leaders, and IDP representatives.
Compliance, Safety & Accountability
- Ensure all activities adhere to donor regulations, organizational policies, and humanitarian principles.
- Monitor security conditions in Ahwar and coordinate movements with the safety focal point.
- Uphold PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), child safeguarding, and Do No Harm principles at all stages of implementation.
- Promote accountability mechanisms, including community feedback and complaint response channels.
4. Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Psychology, or Social Work (Master’s preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in humanitarian or development programming, with at least 2 years in field coordination or supervisory roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing mobile health teams and/or protection interventions in Yemen.
- Familiarity with migrant and IDP contexts and experience working with vulnerable or mobile populations.
- Experience coordinating with local health authorities (MoPHP), protection actors, and UN clusters.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of integrated programming (Health + Protection + MHPSS).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Fluent in Arabic, with strong command of English for reporting and coordination.
