About the Position

BCFHD is seeking a qualified and creative Media Officer to lead the communication, visibility, and knowledge management activities for the THRIVE (SDC) and JISR (DG MENA) programmes implemented within a consortium led by Solidarités International (SI) in partnership with Mercy Corps (MC) and Altwasul Foundation. The position will be responsible for documenting project achievements, ensuring compliance with donor visibility requirements, producing high-quality communication products, and enhancing the visibility and impact of project interventions.

Key Responsibilities

The Media Officer will:

  • Develop and implement the project's communication, visibility, and knowledge management plan in line with donor, consortium, and BCFHD communication strategies. 
  • Produce high-quality communication materials, including photographs, videos, success stories, human-interest stories, case studies, newsletters, and other multimedia content highlighting project achievements and impact. 
  • Document project activities, field visits, training sessions, workshops, community events, and key milestones for reporting, learning, and external communication purposes. 
  • Manage and regularly update BCFHD's website and social media platforms with accurate, engaging, and timely project content. 
  • Ensure compliance with donor and consortium branding, visibility, and communication guidelines across all publications, events, promotional materials, and project outputs. 
  • Support the design and implementation of communication, awareness, and advocacy campaigns related to climate-smart agriculture, natural resource management, resilience, and sustainable livelihoods. 
  • Coordinate with communication focal points of Solidarités International (SI), Mercy Corps (MC), Altwasul Foundation, and other consortium partners to develop joint visibility and communication products. 
  • Collaborate with technical and MEAL teams to collect beneficiary testimonials, impact stories, lessons learned, and evidence for programme reporting and knowledge management. 
  • Support communication activities related to donor visits, monitoring missions, workshops, conferences, and public events. 
  • Maintain an organized archive of communication materials, photographs, videos, and media assets in accordance with organizational policies. 
  • Ensure that all communication products comply with safeguarding principles, ethical communication standards, and data protection requirements. 
  • Perform any other communication and visibility-related duties assigned by the Project Manager or senior management. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Media, Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, or another relevant field. 

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in media, communications, public relations, or visibility within humanitarian or development programmes. 
  • Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality communication materials, including photography, videography, storytelling, and digital content. 
  • Experience managing organizational websites and social media platforms. 
  • Previous experience working with NGOs or international organizations is highly desirable. 
  • Experience with donor-funded projects (EU, SDC, UN agencies, or INGOs) is an advantage. 

Required Competencies

  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills in Arabic; good written and spoken English. 
  • Strong photography, videography, and multimedia content production skills. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign) or equivalent multimedia and graphic design software. 
  • Experience using social media management and digital communication tools. 
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and coordination skills. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Commitment to safeguarding, ethical communication, diversity, and accountability principles.
