PU-AMI’s Context & Strategy:

Première Urgence - Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) is an international, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious humanitarian organization which aims to provide rapid global response to the basic needs of populations affected by humanitarian crises to help them regain independence and dignity. PU-AMI provides assistance to more than 6 million people throughout 24 countries, with more than 2,500 staff worldwide.
PU-AMI adopts an integrated approach, to identify and understand the full array of the needs of the people affected by crises. This innovative approach is at the core of every PU-AMI-supported project to better target and prioritize actions, stabilize and improve the situation of the most vulnerable groups. It allows the teams to take all aspects of a problem into account, to come up with an efficient combination of solutions, which will have a powerful and long-lasting impact on the affected populations. In this respect, the organization runs worldwide around 190 projects a year, most of which are focused on Health, Nutrition, Food Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Psychosocial Support, Education and Protection activities. 
In Yemen, PU-AMI is supporting 21 health facilities (Health Centers, Health Units and Therapeutic Feeding Centers) in four Districts in Hodeidah (Al Mighlaf, As Sukhnah, Al Mansuriyah and Al Qanawis), three Districts in Raymah (Bilad at Ta’am, Al Jabin and Mazhar) and two Districts in Taizz (Al Mokha and Mawza). PU-AMI’s operations are managed by two field offices in Hodeidah and Mokha cities, both supported by the Sana’a coordination office. PU-AMI recently established a second coordination office in Aden. 
PU-AMI is participating actively in clusters and sub-clusters (health; nutrition; food security and livelihoods; WaSH) and works closely with relevant government departments.

Overall Objective

The Nutrition Health Facility Activity Manager supervises and supports all nutrition activities (in health centers, in Therapeutic Feeding Centers, and at the community level), under the management of the Health & Nutrition Program Manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to health facility (HF) medical and paramedics staff.
  • Collection and analysis of Nutrition & pharmaceutical data

Specific Goals and Related Activities

1.    Providing technical support to health facility (HF) medical and paramedics staff

  • Coordinate, supervise, coach, and support HF medical staff including MoPHP staff members’ performance to improve the Nutrition components of the project and ensure the proper functioning of the Nutrition activities according to the PU-AMI Protocol (MAM and SAM treatment and TFC ).
  • Ensure proper referral of cases to adequate Health facilities (Stabilization Center, Hospital…) and participate in the coordination of follow-up of defaulting cases with the Community Health Volunteers through the nutrition supervisor and HC and TFC medical staff.
  • Conduct weekly field visits for supervision and monitoring (frequency can increase according to the need).
  • Prepare the medical and nutrition orders needed to implement the Nutrition activities under his/her responsibility, (HCs and TFCs) and identify non-medical support needs (material, infrastructure, food commodities, etc.), reporting them to the line manager, in coordination with the logistics department.
  • Provide support for the nutrition supervisor in the follow-up and monitor the activities of the community health volunteers and CHW.
  • Provide Support for all team a the TFCs.
  • Ensure efficient pharmacy and medical equipment management and monitor the rational use of them. 
  • Participate in the programs/project follow-up, supervise and ensure that Nutrition activities objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved, and report to the technical referent any problem arising in the service.
  • Monitor the budget of his/her activity: plan and follow up closely with activities and related expenses (Cash Request/Financial Follow-up)
  • Participate in the coordination and/or implementation of emergency assessments and interventions in other districts or governorates.

2.     Collection and analysis of health & pharmaceutical data.

  • Keep daily records of the admitted cases in TFCs.
  • Keep daily records of cases admitted in Nutrition activities (OTP) at all HFs.
  • Keep monthly records for the community health volunteers including screening, and referral,
  • Monthly update of all databases of nutrition activities under His /Her responsibilities.
  • Collection of consumption data and analysis of medical consumption in comparison with morbidities. Responsible for HF monthly requests in collaboration with facility/ department/ nursing supervisors and storekeeper.
  • Analyze trends in admission, discharges, and trends of admissions.
  • Provide weekly/monthly data on caseload, drugs, and nutrition commodities with accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide proper drugs and nutrition commodities requests based on anticipated caseload in HCs and TFCs.

Direct management:  

  • Nutrition Supervisor.\
  • TFC TLs 

Indirect management:

  • GHO staff 
  •  approximately staffs 44

Other Interfaces

  • Internal: Head of Base/Field Coordinator, Program and Medical coordinator, work in collaboration with administration, logistics 
  • External: Nutrition stakeholders in the area

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE 

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • Education Background: Nutrition background (Public health/ epidemiology paramedics/ nursing / medicine)
  • Professional Experience: At least one year experience in INGO in management experience in Health and Nutrition activities (IMCI, CMAM) or any similar program.
  • Language Skills: Arabic and English (spoken and written)   
  • Software Skills: MS Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.…) and outlook                        

Conceptual Skills: 

  • Good training and supervision skills
  • Experience with international health/nutrition standards and procedures
  • Knowledge on CMAM and OTP guidelines
  • Knowledge of Project Management
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Knowledge of procedures: institutional donors (ECHO, UNICEF, DFID)- DESIRABLE
