“Nutritional Screener – Aden”
For our program in Yemen, we are looking for a Nutritional Screener, the position will be based in Aden with field visits.

Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the (Health Activity Manager), the nutritional screener will take the lead in ensuring the implementation of nutrition activities. The key roles will include;
- Ensure nutritional screening is carried out in Lahj and Abyan by health facility staff, as well as at the community level through Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers and Family MUAC.
- Ensure the provision of quality SAM management services in supported health facilities in line with national and international standards.
- Map referral points for SAM cases with complications (TFC facilities) and ensure proper documentation and facilitation of referrals.
- Provide capacity building support on CMAM for health facility staff and Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers.
- Coordinate, report and manage nutritional commodities in collaboration with relevant authorities and the MdM pharmacy team, ensuring compliance with required standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure nutritional screening is carried out in Lahj and Abyan by health facility staff, as well as at the community level through Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers and Family MUAC.
- Support screening of under-5 children and PLWs both at health facilities and in the community through Family MUAC and CHNVs.
- Follow up accuracy of anthropometric measurements (MUAC, weight/height, Z-score)
- Early identification of malnutrition and referral for treatment
Ensure the provision of quality SAM management services in supported health facilities in line with national and international standards.
- Follow up and facilitate SAM services at supported health facilities.
- Make sure implementation quality service through the provision of protocols and materials
- Ensure implementation of IYCF
Map referral points for SAM cases with complications (TFC facilities) and ensure proper documentation and facilitation of referrals.
- Conduct mapping referral TFC facilitation for each supported HFs by MdM
- Share information of the referral point, including the focal point for each health staff in charge of SAM treatment
- Ensure support of transportation for cases based on the SOP and criteria for referral
Provide capacity building support on CMAM for health facility staff and Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers.
- Train health facility staff in charge of OTP service at supported HFs
- Train CHNV on screening, including Family MUAC
- Training health staff and CHNVs on IYCF
- Conduct mentoring and coaching on job as training follow-up and supervision of post-training to make sure standards are in place
- Ensure quality messages on acute malnutrition is distributed
Coordinate, report and manage nutritional commodities in collaboration with relevant authorities and the MdM pharmacy team, ensuring compliance with required standards.
- Ensure nutrition data are recorded and submitted monthly
- Contribute to the monthly sitrep of nutrition intervention
- Ensure SAM commodities are distributed from MoH to supported HFs with the support of the pharmacy team
- Ensure materials needed, such as registration, medical equipment, and protocols, are available for quality service provision
PROFILE REQUIRED
Qualification required:
- Vocational qualification, school leaving certificate .
Skills required:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position with INGOs.
Personal skills required:
- Computer Skills in using Microsoft Office, such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Experience working in humanitarian emergency settings is an asset
- Know the (MdM and national) protocols and procedures for identifying malnutrition
- Apply a methodology with rigor
- Identify, analyze, prioritize, and summarize information in the relevant field
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Be flexible and adaptable; understand and accept changes in the environment regarding people, tasks, work decisions, policies, etc.
- Good communication skills and public speaking skills
- Communicate and adapt behavior to the target audience
- Use distancing techniques
