Médecins Sans Frontières France is looking for Yemeni nationals to recruit in medical department, Amran governorate for the following position:

PAEDIATRICIAN 

Location: Amran Governorate – Khamer.
Contract type: Fixed Term Contract (Six Months – Renewable).
Reporting to:  Medical Activity Manager

Main Purpose:

Providing Emergency and routine inpatient care to paediatric and neonatal patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve paediatric /new-born health conditions.

In the frame of these activities he/she will:

• Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage pediatric/neonatal cases. Carry out inpatient and ER consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment, respecting MSF protocols. 
• Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IPD patients in pediatric and neonatal wards, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors.
• Support the management of pediatric malnutrition cases in the ITFC including training the appropriate staff on complicated SAM cases.
• Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care across all pediatric/neonatal departments
• Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected. 
• Collaborate closely with other hospital departments relevant to pediatrics/neonates (e.g. Vaccination room, Maternity, Emergency room, Isolation unit).
• Monitor and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment in departments under his/her responsibility, together with nursing supervisors and pharmacy team. 
• Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager about any problems, patient complications or medical errors. 
• Review and discuss all mortalities on a monthly basis, providing technical feedback, selecting complicated cases and/or mismanaged cases with relevant learning points.
• Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times, reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. 
• To practice good antibiotic stewardship; oversee the correct use of antibiotics according to MSF guidelines in close collaboration with the ABS focal point.
• Strictly adhere to universal precautions and infection control measures and ensure all members of the pediatric/neonatal unit staff adhere to optimal hygiene standards.
• Supervise and provide feedback to the SMD/MAM on the performance of GPs working on the pediatric/neonatal wards.
• Collaborate with other departments in the project (responding to accident & emergency department requests, intervening in support of other services when needed, etc.), and participate in any emergency activity or exploratory mission, in order to support the overall MSF AND MOH  project with his/her expertise and capabilities. 
• Ensure proper fulfillment of administrative procedures and documents (fill in of patients files, forms, statistics, data base, etc.), and elaborate regular reporting about results, proceedings and problematic situations and cases, in order to have updated and correct information about the day-to-day activity in the project and support decision-taking.
• Participate and contribute in the roadmap discussion of the medical activity in the project
• Participate in the monthly mortality  morbidity report (MMR), trainings and relevant meeting.
• Ensure professional confidentiality is respected; ensure compliance with medical ethics.
• Inform the line manager about any problem or complication of the patients’ illness, medical error and monitor the proper functioning of the department, equipment, or material.
• Ensure proper documentation of medical data and filling system.
• Maintain good attitude and proper bedside manner towards the patient and their caretakers and the rest of the medical team.
• Ensure timely emergency review of patients in the department when needed/indicated.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Pediatrics qualification Essential.
• Practice license as a pediatrician.

Experience    

• Essential 2 years’ minimum experience as a Pediatrician in pediatric hospital and having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable.

Languages        

• Mission language essential (English) with good written and spoken skills.
• Local language essential (Arabic)  

Knowledge    

• Essential computer literacy (word, excel, and internet).
• Updates his / her knowledge according to the most updated MSF new-born and pediatric protocols
