PU-AMI provides assistance to more than 6 million people throughout 24 countries, with more than 2,500 staff worldwide. PU-AMI adopts an integrated approach, to identify and understand the full array of the needs of the people affected by crises. This innovative approach is at the core of every PU-AMI-supported project, to better target and prioritize actions, stabilize and improve the situation of the most vulnerable groups. It allows the teams to take all aspects of a problem into account, to come up with an efficient combination of solutions, which will have a powerful and long-lasting impact on the affected populations. In this respect, the organization runs worldwide around 190 projects a year, most of which are focused on Health, Nutrition, Food Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Psychosocial Support, Education and Protection activities. PU-AMI is participating actively in clusters and sub-clusters (health; nutrition; food security and livelihoods; WaSH) and works closely with relevant government departments.

Overall Objective
The Plumber will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water supply, sanitation, and drainage systems within health facilities. The role ensures that all plumbing systems function effectively and safely, supporting uninterrupted health service delivery and maintaining hygienic standards.
Scope of Work and Core Responsibilities
Technical Tasks
- Install, maintain, and repair water supply lines, sanitary fixtures, and drainage systems in health facilities.
- Perform routine inspections to identify leaks, blockages, or malfunctions in plumbing systems.
- Ensure proper installation and maintenance of wash basins, toilets, showers, and water storage tanks.
- Carry out maintenance and repair of pumps, piping networks, and associated plumbing equipment.
- Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies, breakdowns, and service requests.
- Ensure all plumbing works comply with safety standards, local building codes, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, spare parts used, and service reports.
- Support procurement by specifying correct materials, spare parts, and tools required for plumbing works.
- Train facility staff on basic plumbing maintenance and safe water usage.
- Collaborate with other technicians (electrical, maintenance, WASH) to ensure integrated facility upkeep.
Working Conditions
- Frequent visits to assigned health facilities based on the needs.
- Field-based role requiring flexibility and availability to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours if needed.
Reporting Lines:
- The Plumber will report directly to the Health and Nutrition Program Manager
