Overall Objective

The Plumber will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water supply, sanitation, and drainage systems within health facilities. The role ensures that all plumbing systems function effectively and safely, supporting uninterrupted health service delivery and maintaining hygienic standards.

Scope of Work and Core Responsibilities

Technical Tasks 

• Install, maintain, and repair water supply lines, sanitary fixtures, and drainage systems in health facilities.
• Perform routine inspections to identify leaks, blockages, or malfunctions in plumbing systems.
• Ensure proper installation and maintenance of wash basins, toilets, showers, and water storage tanks.
• Carry out maintenance and repair of pumps, piping networks, and associated plumbing equipment.
• Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies, breakdowns, and service requests.
• Ensure all plumbing works comply with safety standards, local building codes, and organizational policies.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, spare parts used, and service reports.
• Support procurement by specifying correct materials, spare parts, and tools required for plumbing works.
• Train facility staff on basic plumbing maintenance and safe water usage.
• Collaborate with other technicians (electrical, maintenance, WASH) to ensure integrated facility upkeep.

Working Conditions

• Frequent visits to assigned health facilities based on the needs. 
• Field-based role requiring flexibility and availability to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours if needed.

Reporting Lines:

• The Plumber will report directly to the Health and Nutrition Program Manager
