Position Title: Senior Finance Officer
Duty Station: Aden
Reports To: Finance Manager
Ref: HR26/7
Job Summary
This position serves the Samaritan’s Purse Republic of Yemen office, which seeks to establish thriving and revitalized Yemen communities through multi sectoral interventions with priority focus on Health & Nutrition, WASH and Livelihoods programming. Primarily the individual who fills this position will assist in the day-to-day key aspects of accounting, specifically banking, document and ledger management under the direction of the Finance Manager. This position provides specific support to Aden Finance department and assists in the administration of the financial/business functions of the unit.
Major Responsibilities:
A. Banking (60%)
a. Maintain and update the Bank Ledgers. Upload them into accounting systems
b. Ensure that all costs are allocated to the appropriate projects and general ledger accounts as indicated in the supporting documents
c. Review procurement and beneficiary payment documents before payments are initiated and ensure all supporting documents and necessary approvals are provided
d. Coordinate with all departments regarding all checks/bank transfers, in order to process all payments within the timeframe agreed
e. Manage banking payment tracker to ensure all requests are being paid in a timely manner and provide this report regularly to stakeholders
f. Monitor and report bank balances to finance manager regularly to ensure programmatic activities are not hindered
g. Scan, upload, and organize banking documentation
h. Proactively communicate any banking issues to the Finance Manager and propose potential solutions
B. General Accounting (15%)
a. Be informed on Samaritan’s Purse policies and internal procedures, work according to them, provide guidance on them, and ensure compliance with them
b. Prepare periodic journal entries in alignment with different financial activities and budgets
c. Identify areas for financial and administrative improvement and work to implement feasible improvements.
d. Provide support to the finance assistants as necessary, including but not limited to backfilling their position
C. Month-end Closure (10%)
a. Assists the Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly financial reports
b. Prepare monthly journal entries in accordance with pre-established allocations under the direction of the Finance Manager
c. Respond to any other/urgent task requested by International Head Quarters.
D. Other duties (10%)
a. Assist in training new staff, to include finance and non-finance employees
b. Identify areas for financial and administrative improvement and work to implement feasible improvements.
c. Complete other activities as directed by the Finance Manager and perform all other tasks and responsibilities assigned for the benefit of Samaritan’s Purse with a service-oriented spirit

17. Willing to travel as required by Finance Manager and CD.
Education / Experience Needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with International NGO, with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience running day-to-day operations in an office setting
LANGUAGE
- Strong fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English are required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be exposed to loud noises around maintenance and construction workshops.
