SPECIALIZED TECHNICIAN (HVAC)- (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)

Requirements for the position
Education:
- Essential diploma or recognized formal training in the assigned technical area
Experience:
- Demonstrate experience in his/her technical area (minimum 2 years’ experience)
- Proven experience in HVAC installation, maintenance and repair.
- Desirable Previous working experience in MSF or other NGOs
Languages:
- Essential : Advanced level of English Language.
Other:
- Local language essential, mission language desirable.
Description
- Place of work: Abs District, Hajja governorate, Republic of Yemen
- Level: 5
- Duration: One-year contract with the possibility of extension. Subjected to a probationary period according to Yemen
- Labor Law.
- Others: Salary: Based on the organization scale
Main objectives:
Performing autonomously, specific complex / advanced installation, maintenance works and repairs depending on technician’s specialization (requiring special/qualifications/training), according to supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment, installations and infrastructures
Main responsibilities and tasks:
- Performing autonomously, all necessary complex / advanced installations, maintenance and repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications/training), according to the supervisor’s instructions and executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. Including the following functions:
- Qualified Air conditioning Technician
- Qualified Electrician
- Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF air conditioner installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.
- Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage of air conditioner spare parts.
- Responsible for air conditioner equipment and tools, ensuring correct installation and safely, maintaining and renewing equipment’s when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
- Keeping working area clean and tidy.
- Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to Air conditioners maintenance are always completed. Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or maintenance.
- Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly regarding damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins
Working in collaboration with other specialised technicians/Electrician and workers, if necessary, or managing a small team of workers.
- The HVAC technician's duty is to install, fix, and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration systems in various settings such as Hospitals, Pharmacies, and residential area. A qualified technician must have a good mechanical skill, a strong ability to troubleshoot, and read technical manuals and schematics
- Confirm to the manufacturer's specifications and install new air conditioning and domestic refrigerators.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on existing systems to guarantee the best performance and durability.
- Detect and resolve malfunctions in existing systems, such as replacing worn-out or faulty components like fans, compressors, motors and electronic components, replacing refrigerant pipes, copper nuts and insulation, etc.
- Test and balance systems to ensure optimal performance and effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records of all work done, including repair logs and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure a safe work environment and comply with all relevant safety protocols and regulations.
- Train and involve logistics maintenance agents in the maintenance of the units and train the staff on user maintenance when applicable.
- Give support to the Supply department both at the Project and in Sana’a to guarantee the quality and durability of the equipment and materials.
- Stay informed about industry trends and technology advancements and adhere to the best practices.
- Ensure that air conditioners refrigerants are not leaking from the units.
