ABOUT FMF:

The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) has been operating in Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the region. Our staff of dedicated professionals and passionate volunteers are the helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9 million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not only to survive but also to rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a comprehensive approach to providing aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of international emergency relief.

POSITION DESCRIPTION/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop quarterly and annual communication work plans respective of the implementation plan and Communication and Outreach Strategy and ensure its timely implementation;
  • Provide support to the senior Communication and Media officer and assist in the implementation of the communication and outreach of the project;
  • Constantly assess the validity and need of updating the Projects Communication Strategy in order to fully support all outputs.
  • Provide support to the staff in planning and implementing advocacy and communication actions and ensure that work-flow, branding and products are aligned with the overall project communication and visibility strategy.
  • Promote projects’ actions and activities and ensure visibility of the Programme and information updates at national, regional and international levels by preparing and managing content published on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) and publishing regular press releases in English and Arabic;
  • Develop the project’s branding (promotional materials, signboards etc.) and ensure their correct and systematic use in the target areas of the projects and for all communication, visibility and advocacy activities;
  • Develop and organize publication activities, communication materials, flyers, newsletters, information briefs, posters, handbooks, case studies, social impact studies and thematic studies aimed at empowering stakeholders and enhancing visibility of the Project outcomes;
  • Prepare and organize awareness programmes and public messages to be aired on local radio channels, television and newspaper; 
  • Produce human interest/impact stories focusing on interventions and strategies that bring about real changes in the lives of the beneficiaries.
  • Ensure strong and continuous relations/contacts with journalists and media in Yemen and regularly monitor the coverage of the Project in the regional and local media (print, electronic, video, social media);
  • Work closely with other project staff to ensure strong linkages with the partners and media.
  • Provide direct technical knowledge and expertise that is necessary for the implementation of assigned project activities.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Multimedia, Journalism, public relations, or related field.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience working with INGOs/NGOs in Humanitarian Aid in similar position.
  • Well experienced in using Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience in producing high quality media materials such as photos, video footages, films, infographic, reports, and case studies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill.
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with limited support and minimum supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Power point).
  • English-language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, sensitivity to other people’s views and perspectives.
  • Ability to express clearly and concisely complex ideas and concepts. As well as having excellent presentation and training skills.
