Position Summary
The Field Assistant (Protection) will provide direct case management services in the WC. She also will oversee and manage the implementation of Women Safe space activities and individual and group psychological support sessions.
The Field Assistant (Protection) will supervise PSS assistants and be in charge of identification and management of GBV cases including providing case management and PSS services. The Field Assistant (Protection) will liaise regularly with the Field Officer (Protection), the Coordinator and Protection Technical Advisor and ensure she highlights any challenges in technical issues within the WC. While this position is based in the WC, occasional travel to Aden South Country Office and Shabwah Field office will be required.
Roles and responsibilities:
Context Background:
The Field Assistant (Protection) will work closely with the Protection Officer to support GBV implementation in Marib.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that all survivors are supported within RI’s Protection/Cluster guidelines and local regulations.
- Managing and supervising casual workers to ensure timeliness, and effectiveness of protection service implementation.
- Under the guidance of the Protection officer will provide/support any GBV activities to the beneficiaries at the Women and girls’ safe spaces.
Relationships Management:
- Maintain positive relationships with Health facility teams, community leaders, local councils, and other stakeholders to facilitate referral of GBV cases.
- Under the guidance of Protection officer will coordinate with governorate education officer (GEOs), to ensure seamless psychosocial support services (PSS) are delivered.
- Follow up with the with the logistics and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of all GBV supplies and equipment.
Program Implementation
- Provide direct case management services for an assigned number of WC clients on a daily basis.
- Supervise PSS assistants and be responsible for their capacity development, recruitment and training as guided by the Protection Coordinator.
- Oversee the implementation of group PSS sessions, providing on-the-job coaching and mentoring for the PSS workers and ensuring identification of vulnerable clients in need of additional support.
- Coordinate regularly with the WC’s Outreach Assistant and PSS workers to maintain an updated service.
- mapping and promote strong referral pathways and appropriate follow-up.
- Ensure that all case management and psychosocial support activities are implemented in line with RI’s internal policies, particularly standard operating procedures designed for the project, as well as donor and cluster regulations and international humanitarian standards.
- Support the development of information awareness sessions, PSS and recreational activities, and other
- opportunities for WC clients based on need.
- Contribute to the development and roll-out of training materials related to case management and PSS services.
- Support data collection in a safe and confidential manner for analysis by Protection and MEAL colleagues.
- Prepare weekly and monthly work plans and reports in a timely manner; incorporate feedback, as requested.
- Meet regularly with the Protection Officer to review client needs, identify achievements and challenges, and adjust programming accordingly.
- Support the development of key technical tools in coordination with the Protection Officer and field level such as H&N Officer, Data Officer etc.
- Create a positive and inclusive environment with clear communication channels
- Other duties as necessary and assigned by the Protection Officer.
I. Qualifications and Experience:
Essential criteria
This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fastpaced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, preferably psychology or social work
- At least one year of relevant experience in individual case management provision
- Demonstrated capacity and experience in staff management.
- Prior experience in women’s protection and/or social work with an NGO preferred.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
- Proven ability to multi-task and manage staff in a high-pressured environment with long hours.
- Committed to the humanitarian imperative and passionate about the successful delivery of confidential, client-centered services.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
