Since our inception, we have responded to urgent humanitarian needs while working to advance longer-term solutions that strengthen the well-being and resilience of the communities we serve.
For Humanity is seeking an experienced and motivated Media, Communication & Advocacy Officer to join its team. The officer will work closely with programme teams, senior management, and partner organizations to strengthen the organization’s visibility, messaging, and engagement with donors, stakeholders, and the wider public.
Summary
The postholder will be responsible for safeguarding and enhancing the organization’s public image, strengthening communication with donors and key stakeholders, and increasing visibility through high- quality visual, written, and digital content. The officer will also lead advocacy initiatives, support campaigns, develop key messages, and ensure full alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives and donor communication requirements. This role is central to storytelling, media engagement, digital outreach, and policy-informed advocacy messaging that supports humanitarian action and resource mobilization.
Reporting Line & Key Working Relationships
Reporting to: Grants Coordinator Working closely with: Programme teams, MEAL team, Field teams and area staff, Senior Management (as required).
Key Responsibilities
1) Media, Visibility & Documentation
- Document project activities across all phases (assessment, implementation, monitoring, and closure).
- Develop and maintain a media and visibility schedule aligned with donor requirements and project milestones.
- Capture high-quality photos, videos, and b-roll in line with donor visibility standards and AFH branding.
- Write clear captions, and provide Arabic/English translations for all media content.
- Ensure informed consent is obtained and recorded (written and/or verbal), in line with safeguarding and ethical standards.
- Develop and implement media strategies aligned with organizational communication objectives and donor visibility frameworks.
- Create storyboards, scenarios, and scripts for impact videos and success stories.
- Produce and share regular visual content packages for donors and internal stakeholders (daily, monthly, quarterly, as required).
2) Human-Interest Storytelling
- Conduct field visits to identify and document impactful beneficiary stories for fundraising, advocacy, and external communications.
- Produce compelling, high-quality stories (written, photo, and video) that demonstrate program outcomes and organizational impact.
- Ensure all narratives follow ethical storytelling principles, safeguarding standards, and donor guidelines—protecting dignity, privacy, and safety at all times.
3) Social Media & Digital Content
- Manage and update AFH social media platforms with timely program updates, achievements, and advocacy messages.
- Publish daily/weekly content including human-interest stories, impact visuals, events, emergency responses, and campaigns.
- Design and deliver digital campaigns for advocacy, fundraising, emergencies, and key thematic days (e.g., International Women’s Day, World Water Day).
4) Graphic Design & Visibility Materials
- Design high-quality communication materials including banners, posters, brochures, leaflets, and visibility assets.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings to confirm visibility requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
- Ensure all designs comply with AFH branding and donor visibility rules.
- Review and quality-check visibility materials prior to printing and distribution.
5) Advocacy & Campaign Support
- Support the development of advocacy products including key messages, briefs, talking points, and position statements.
- Produce communication materials for advocacy initiatives and campaigns.
- Coordinate with programme teams and relevant partners to highlight humanitarian needs, gaps, and response priorities.
- Support participation in national and cluster-level advocacy and coordination initiatives.
- Ensure advocacy messaging aligns with humanitarian principles, neutrality, and organizational standards.
6) Reporting & Knowledge Products
- Draft short updates and posts for AFH platforms (weekly/monthly).
- Produce newsletters (monthly/quarterly) with strong visual storytelling for fundraising and engagement.
- Design and contribute to situation reports, programme briefs, presentations, and annual reports.
- Provide narrative and visual inputs to donor reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure all outputs meet donor, HQ, and legal standards (copyright, consent, data protection, and branding).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience in photography, videography, and multimedia content production.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or equivalent tools.
- Excellent storytelling and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging content for different audiences.
- Experience developing advocacy content and campaign messaging.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work with documentation tools and media equipment (camera, audio, lighting, editing tools).
- Prior experience in humanitarian, NGO, or nonprofit communications is a strong asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel to field locations, including challenging contexts.
- Strong cultural awareness and commitment to humanitarian principles and safeguarding.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is essential.
