I.    Background

The Humanitarian Development Program (HDP) is a nonprofit and independent NGO in Yemen .It focuses on improving the quality of Yemeni people’s life through well-planned and comprehensive projects in WASH, education, Food security & livelihood Shelter, CCCM, Protection  ,health and related activities that strengthen underserved communities in all parts of Yemen with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergencies.

Vulnerable adults and children are particularly at risk of sexual exploitation and abuse. HDP defines the program’s commitment to the protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) of vulnerable adults, involving HDP Employees and Related Personnel. In recognition of the special vulnerability of children, also HDP affirms commitment to the welfare and protection from sexual exploitation and all forms of abuse of children, involving HDP employees and related personnel.
Project Accountant will focus on HDP portfolio and will support the Programs & Projects Manager in all relevant financial matters.              

II.    Project Summary :

The School Kitchen Project aims to provide healthy and proper daily school nutrition for male and female students. The project targets 30,000 students across 55 targeted schools in Taiz Governorate (Al-Mudhaffar, Al-Qahirah, and Salah Districts), funded by the World Food Programme (WFP) and implemented in partnership with Hayel Saeed Anam Group (HSA).

III.    Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of Finance Manager, and the overall guidance of the Programs & Projects Manager, the Project Accountant, will undertake the following tasks:

  • Ensuring the preparation of healthy, balanced meals of appropriate quality in accordance with the World Food Programme (WFP) guidelines and standards, and food safety standards.
  • Supervise meal packaging, loading, and temperature-controlled transport to target schools, ensuring meals remain safe and wholesome until consumed by students.
  • Monitor the quality, safety, caloric value, and nutritional composition of meals produced daily in the Healthy Kitchen.
  • Supervise the technical specifications during the procurement of raw ingredients and inspect quality control to maintain nutritional value and food safety.
  • Conduct regular assessment and monitoring visits to track the project's nutritional impact on targeted student beneficiaries.
  • Training, capacity building, and mentoring of distribution staff on public hygiene, food safety, sanitary distribution practices, and daily management of distributed meals according to the number of attending students.
  • Design and deliver nutrition awareness and training sessions for community stakeholders, school committees, and parents on healthy eating and dietary diversity.
  • Collaborate closely with WFP nutrition focal points, local health/education partners, and community organizations to ensure alignment with nutrition standards.
  • Coordinate with schools, kitchen supervisors, and distribution teams to guarantee safe, timely, and hygienic meal distribution.
  • Establish and maintain systematic records for daily meal production, quality inspection checklists, distribution logs, and beneficiary feedback.
  • Prepare  plans and periodic progress reports (daily/weekly/monthly) on nutrition metrics, food quality, and challenges for project manager 
  • Support the development of culturally suitable IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials that promote healthy eating habits in schools.
  • Ensure full compliance with WFP food safety & quality management guidelines, HDP policies, and relevant national health regulations.
  • Perform any other technical or operational duties assigned by the Project Manager related to nutrition and school feeding.

  • الإشراف على عمليات تعبئة الوجبات ونقلها إلى المدارس المستهدفة، وضمان الحفاظ على سلامة الوجبات وجودتها حرارياً حتى وصولها للطلاب.
  • مراقبة جودة وسلامة والقيمة الحرارية والتركيبة الغذائية للوجبات المنتجة يومياً في المطبخ الصحي.
  • الإشراف على المواصفات الفنية عند شراء المكونات الخام وفحص جودتها للحفاظ على القيمة الغذائية وضمان سلامة الغذاء.
  • إجراء زيارات تقييم ومراقبة دورية لقياس أثر المشروع التغذوي والصحي على الطلاب المستفيدين المستهدفين.
  • تدريب وبناء قدرات وتوجيه موظفي التوزيع حول النظافة العامة، سلامة الغذاء، ممارسات التوزيع الصحي، وضبط عدد الوجبات الموزعة يوميا وفقا لعدد حضور الطلاب.
  • تصميم وتنفيذ جلسات توعية وتدريب لأصحاب المصلحة والمجالس المدرسية وأولياء الأمور حول الأكل الصحي والتنوع الغذائي.
  • التعاون مع نقاط الاتصال التغذوية ببرنامج الأغذية العالمي (WFP) ومكاتب الصحة والتعليم لضمان توافق الأنشطة مع الأهداف الوطنية والمانحين.
  • التنسيق مع إدارات المدارس ومشرفي المطابخ وفرق التوزيع لضمان سلامة وسرعة ونظافة عملية توزيع الوجبات.
  • إنشاء وصيانة سجلات منظمة لإنتاج الوجبات اليومية، وقوائم فحص الجودة، وسجلات التوزيع، وملاحظات وشكاوى المستفيدين.
  • إعداد خطط وتقارير دورية (يومية/أسبوعية/شهرية) حول المؤشرات التغذوية، جودة الغذاء، والتحديات، ورفعها لمدير المشروع 
  • دعم تطوير وإعداد المواد التثقيفية والإعلامية (IEC) المناسبة لتعزيز العادات والأنماط الغذائية الصحية بين الطلاب في المدارس.
  • ضمان الالتزام الكامل بإرشادات إدارة السلامة والجودة لبرنامج الأغذية العالمي (WFP)، وسياسات المنظمة، واللوائح الصحية المحلية.
  • أداء أي مهام صحية أو تغذوية أو تشغيلية أخرى يتم التكليف بها من قبل مدير المشروع في نطاق التغذية المدرسية.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of practical experience in community nutrition, school feeding programs, or large-scale food quality control with INGOs or humanitarian agencies.
  • In-depth familiarity with WFP school feeding guidelines, food safety & hygiene protocols (HACCP principles), and community awareness methodologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data collection/reporting tools.
  • Fluent Arabic (native) and Good to Very Good Working Knowledge of English (written and spoken report writing).
