Médecins Sans Frontières France is looking for:
Surgeon
Location: Haydan district Saadah governate (Accommodation will be provided)
Contract type: Daily Worker/Backup
Reporting to: Medical Activity Manager/Medical Referent
Main Purpose
Organize and carry out surgery activities, ensure pre and post-operative surgical care, in accordance with MSF policies, protocols and universal hygiene standards and in close collaboration with medical staff in the emergency, intensive wards, IPD and operation theatre.
Key of responsibilities
- Carry out regular and emergency surgeries within the scope of activities in the Project including Laparotomy, Caesarean sections ESFIX, and invasive surgical procedures;
- Give guidance/consultations to GPs in ER regarding management of emergency Surgical cases that present to the ER;
- Ensure patent centred care and give all required information to patients about surgical conditions to make informed decisions;
- Participate in surgical interventions during Mass Casualty incidents (MCI).
- Ensure IPC measures are strictly followed in the OT.
- Undertake pre-operative consultations, evaluating the surgical risks with the anaesthetist and/or other medical staff involved.
- Carry out emergency and programmed surgical intervention following MSF protocols and policies including swab counts, ensuring appropriate use of surgical equipment and proper OT registry entry/documentation of all OT intervention.
- Carry out post-operative clinical care and ward rounds. Attend OPD, emergency room when required.
- In collaboration with the anaesthetist, carry-out the collection and analysis of quantitative surgical- anaesthesia data to monitor quality.
- Know and help to implement the accidental blood exposure policy.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Diploma in Surgical specialty recognized by the State is essential. Computer literacy is essential.
Experience
- Surgical experience as stated in CV (with number of independently performed surgical interventions) is duly certified and verified. Experience with MSF or other NGO’s id desirable.
