Job Description

Position: Health and Nutrition Assistant
Location: Aden , with frequent field visits
Duration: 6 months (until September 2025)
Reports to: Health Consultant

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Health Consultant, the Health & Nutrition Assistant will dedicate 100% of his/her time leading, coordinating and ensuring the high-quality implementation of project activities. the Health & Nutrition Assistant will be in charge of coordinating closely with all stakeholders and beneficiaries in the targeted governorates and ensure the appropriate implementation of project activities in the field.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with relevant government directorates and community leaders to facilitate implementation of the project activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the district level program team and other team members
  • Ensure report formats are used properly, and all reports are submitted on time, followed up on, and finalized in a timely manner and support where issues arise to mentor and improve over time.
  • Identify when technical support is required (sectoral, logistics, finance, reporting, M&E, etc)
  • Conduct follow up field visits and collect success stories achieved during the life of the project.
  • Participate and contribute to development of the daily, weekly, and monthly plans and reports
  • Maintain detailed records and up to date paperwork for all duties as per agreed upon formats.
  • Ensure adherence to the principle and objectives of the project, AFH and donors’ policies.
  • Participate in initial assessment missions and distribution/site selections as AFH representative
  • Monitor the progress of project implementation, update the HC accordingly, and assist in field.
  • Verify that all reported data is being collected properly and according to reporting templates (indicator tracking/HIS), M&E plans are followed, tools are used, and processes are correct.
  • Ensure awareness and implementation of appropriate beneficiary/community accountability mechanisms, including responding to Hotline Feedback and Complaints Mechanism and community feedback sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date files for project activities and data for project.
  • Ensure coordination with project stakeholders (beneficiaries, communities, local governing authorities).
  • Any other tasks requested for the sake of work and AFH

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree in medicine, health & Nutrition or other relevant medical background.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in the field for health and nutrition program implementation, experience with INGOs required.
  • Minimum of 1-year professional experience in team management implementing health and nutrition emergency response programs in a conflict setting.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office.
  • Show diplomacy, good communication and has good interpersonal and negotiations skills.
  • Strong team management skills and ability to relate to and effectively motivate staff.
  • Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel outside Aden Gov. and accommodation if necessary.
