Job Title: Health and Nutrition Support Officer

Contacts/Key Relationships:
- Internal: Health and Nutrition Programme team, WASH, MEAL, Operations and Logistics Team, Finance and HR team.
- External: local/national NGO partners, MoPHP, SBDMA, GHO, DHO, Health cluster, Nutrition cluster and other NGOs as required.
Job Location: Aden with movement to other Governorates where Concern works.
Contract Details: Fixed Contract till 31st December 2026, with possibility for extension based on fund availability and performance.

Job Purpose:
The H&N Support Officer works with the Health & Nutrition Officer to manage routine health and nutrition activities across targeted health facilities and the community. The specific role includes field-level implementation of health & nutrition activities, community-level social behaviour change (SBC) interventions related to health and nutrition, and the collection of health/nutrition records/data from targeted health facilities and the community.
The role will closely monitor the work of community health volunteers/workers, including on-the-job training and mentoring, monthly progress review meetings with the CHVs, collecting monthly attendance data from health facilities, and preparing payment documents for incentives to CHVs and health workers for assigned health facilities and community workers. The role also supports needs assessment, the collection of field-level data, and analysis to inform project design and adaptive programming, integrating cross-cutting issues such as gender, disability, and protection. The role also coordinates with district- and governorate-level health authorities, other partners and actively participates in coordination meetings when required.
Main duties & Responsibilities:
Specific roles include:
- Support H&N staff in the successful implementation of the health and nutrition activities at the facility and community levels as per the national guidelines.
- In collaboration with the H&N Officer, coordinate with the DHO/DHO to nominate the health workers and CHVs for targeted health facilities, collect the record, sign engagement letters, and conduct orientation sessions with the CHVs and Health Workers in supported health facilities.
- Routinely monitor Concern or local partner-supported health facilities to ensure the attendance of health workers, and health and nutrition commodities are available. Immediately inform the H&N Officer and Manager of any gaps or shortages of medical/nutrition commodities in supported health facilities.
- Monitor the work of CHVs and provide on-the-job capacity building to ensure the implementation of community-level health and nutrition activities, including nutrition screening, referrals to health facilities, follow-up, and health and nutrition sessions/counselling in targeted communities.
- Participate in formative assessment to identify the bottlenecks and barriers in social behavior change (SBC) activities. This includes FGDs, KII, and observational visits during the assessment and providing data for the report & recommendations.
- With the support of CHVs, mobilise the Community leaders and Community Committees, if needed, to support the implementation of the Health and Nutrition activities and targeted
- Conduct monthly meetings with CHVs to review the progress, collect the monthly record, discuss the challenges and constraints, identify gaps and barriers, and provide feedback for necessary improvement.
- In collaboration with the H&N Officer and manager, participate in the monthly progress review meetings with the health workers/Facility Managers and health/project committees in targeted health facilities to review progress, analyse data, collect records, and provide feedback on improvement.
- Support with the data for monthly reporting to the health and nutrition cluster, donor reporting and participate in cluster meetings in the absence of the H&N Officer or H&N Manager.
- Participate in and support rapid assessments of health facilities in new locations and needs assessments for any new health and nutrition program.

- Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the line manager.

Person specification:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related health field.
- Minimum three years of experience in Primary Health Care (PHC) services.
- Demonstrated experience in health/nutrition programming implementation as per Yemen MSP National Programs/CMAM guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience of working in humanitarian sectors with NGOs/UN agencies, particularly at the field level, supervision and managing health/nutrition projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable
- Experience with DHIS2
- Trained/knowledge on multiple PHC service programs.
- Familiarity with humanitarian supply chain procedures.
