Position: Girl Shine Supervisor (Females are encouraged to apply)
Job Location: Kharaz Refugee Camp -Lahj, Yemen
Duration of Assignment: 11 months (Feb -December 2025)
Report to: Protection Officer

Background
Human Access for Partnership and Development (HUMAN ACCESS) is a non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization established in 1990. It serves as an implementing partner for UNHCR in Marib, Aden, and Kharaz refugee camp, focusing on humanitarian, development, and community-based services. HUMAN ACCESS collaborates with local and international partners, including UN agencies like WFP, UNFPA, WHO, and UNOCHA. The organization is ISO 9001:2008 certified and is a member of the UN DPI-NGO and the Arab Union for Voluntary Work.
The project, "Enhancing Protection and Assistance for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, including Education, Livelihood, and Health Services in Kharaz and Basateen," supports displaced communities in Yemen.

Job Specialization:
The Girl Shine Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Girl Shine program at Kharaz Refugee Camp, ensuring its successful implementation, and aligning activities with the protection needs of refugee girls. This includes managing a team of facilitators and mentors, engaging with the community, and ensuring that the program offers essential services for empowering and protecting girls in the refugee setting.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
Program Implementation and Oversight
- Supervise Girl Shine activities in Kharaz refugee camp, ensuring safety, inclusivity, and addressing vulnerabilities like trauma, early marriage, and GBV.
- Adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of refugee girls in the camp, ensuring cultural sensitivity and alignment with protection priorities.
- Coordinate with child protection, GBV, health, education, and livelihood actors for an integrated approach to girls' empowerment and protection.
Team Management and Capacity Building
- Manage and support a team of mentors, facilitators, and volunteers, providing mentorship and ongoing capacity building on key issues like child protection and gender-sensitive programming.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Oversee monitoring and evaluation of activities, tracking participation, engagement, and impact, especially in education, safety, and psychosocial support.
- Collect data on girls shine program outcomes and submit regular progress reports.
- Ensure adherence to UNHCR data collection standards and maintain confidentiality.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build relationships with refugee families, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure program support and awareness.
- Raise awareness about girls' education, protection, and empowerment in the camp.
- Strengthen partnerships with local NGOs, UN agencies, and community organizations for effective coordination.
Safeguarding and Protection
- Ensure adherence to child protection and safeguarding policies, providing training on recognizing and responding to protection risks like GBV, early marriage, and trafficking.
- Maintain a safe and confidential environment for girls and ensure referrals to specialized services when necessary.
Adaptation to Refugee Context
- Adapt program activities to the evolving needs of refugee girls, considering challenges like mobility restrictions and limited-service access.
- Coordinate with humanitarian actors to align Girl Shine activities with the broader refugee response, enhancing impact and sustainability.
Required Educational Qualification and Experience Education & Training:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work, , , Fine Arts, , Psychology, Gender fieldis highly desirable .
Experience:
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with refugee or displaced populations, particularly in adolescent girls' empowerment, child protection, and gender-based violence prevention is highly desirable.
Required Competencies:
- Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and guide a diverse team in a challenging environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in engaging with vulnerable groups, refugee girls, families, and community leaders.
- In-depth knowledge of child protection standards, gender-based violence prevention, and safeguarding practices in humanitarian contexts.
- Ability to work under pressure and remain adaptable to shifting program priorities and security conditions in a refugee setting.
- Empathy and emotional intelligence, with the ability to support staff and participants dealing with trauma and adversity.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to innovate within a resource-constrained humanitarian environment.
Terms and Conditions:
The Girl Shine Supervisor will be employed in Kharaz camp on a full-time basis from Sunday -Thursday for the duration of the program.
The Supervisor must adhere to all UNHCR policies, including the code of conduct, safeguarding, and confidentiality agreements.
