ABOUT FMF
The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) has been operating in Yemen since 2012, even during the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the region. Our staff of dedicated professionals and passionate volunteers are the helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before the war.
To date, we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9 million vulnerable people in Yemen, helping them not only to survive but also to rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a comprehensive approach to aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of international emergency relief.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
FMF is implementing a new health and nutrition project in the western coast. The response focuses on providing integrated Health and Nutrition Services to vulnerable people in the following districts:
- Hays and Al Kawkha (Al Hudaydah Governorate)
- Al Makah and Moz’e (Taiz Governorate)
The assistance is being provided to both host communities and internally displaced persons (IDP) sites.
MAIN PURPOSE
The Health & Nutrition Officer will oversee the implementation of project-related health and nutrition activities, ensuring quality standards are met. They will ensure effective implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of health and nutrition activities. With at least 3 years of humanitarian experience, the officer will conduct regular field visits to health facilities and medical mobile teams to provide supportive supervision.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the project, including planning, needs reassessment, mobilization, financial planning, supervision of staff, and reporting in coordination with support departments and technical advisors.
- Implement and monitor project activities in line with the proposal, log frame, budget, and agreed timelines.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and local authorities to ensure smooth implementation of activities.
- Maintain close contact with the Governorate Health Office (GHO) and District Health Office (DHO).
- Ensure staff are trained to appropriate health and nutrition national standards.
- Ensure all project activities comply with FMF policies, donor and cluster regulations, and international humanitarian standards.
- Supervise field teams to achieve agreed activities and project objectives.
- Identify and request technical support when needed.
- Conduct regular supervision of health facilities and provide on-the-job training to staff.
- Plan and follow up on procurement of supplies and materials for project activities.
- Prepare technical and procurement plans for timely implementation of activities.
- Monitor activities, provide updates on progress, and propose corrective actions as necessary.
- Liaise with donors, clusters, and relevant stakeholders on technical aspects of project implementation.
- Provide technical advice, build staff capacity, and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and documentation of progress.
- Ensure adherence to Ministry of Public Health (MoPHP) guidelines in health facilities.
- Facilitate the referral process for patients, follow up on admitted cases, and ensure quality care is provided.
- Ensure effective financial and budgetary controls are in place.
- Provide quality control of project interventions in collaboration with the MEAL department.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the health and nutrition sector; experience with NGOs is required.
- At least 2 years of experience managing emergency response programs in conflict settings.
- Knowledge of financial and budgetary controls; proven ability to manage budgets.
- Leadership qualities, motivational skills, and experience in team management.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
- Previous experience supervising staff.
- Training in health, nutrition, and protection.
- Proficiency in report writing and analyzing M&E data.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, and ERP systems.
