Job Title: General Manager – Solar Systems & Sustainable Energy

Location: Sana’a & Aden, Yemen (Frequent travel between both cities; regional travel for Middle East expansion)

Reporting Line: Chief Executive Officer / Board of Directors

Role Purpose:

The General Manager – Solar Systems & Sustainable Energy will have full executive responsibility for leading, managing, and expanding the company’s renewable energy business, with a core focus on solar power systems and sustainable energy solutions.

The role carries full P&L ownership, operational leadership, technical governance, and strategic expansion across Yemen, with a clear mandate to develop the business footprint in the Middle East and other regions.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth:

• Define and execute the short- and long-term strategy for the solar and sustainable energy business.
• Lead market expansion plans within Yemen and into regional Middle East markets.
• Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and institutional projects.
• Represent the company at senior stakeholder, regulatory, and client levels.

Operational & Technical Oversight:

• Oversee the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of solar PV and sustainable energy systems.
• Ensure projects meet technical standards, quality benchmarks, and safety requirements.
• Establish scalable operational models suitable for growth and regional expansion.
• Drive continuous improvement in project execution, cost efficiency, and delivery timelines.

Financial Management & P&L Ownership:

• Hold full P&L accountability, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Monitor project margins, cash flow, working capital, and cost controls.
• Ensure financial discipline across all contracts, tenders, and operational activities.
• Support commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and contract approvals.

People Leadership & Governance:

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing technical and management team.
• Create a culture of accountability, safety, and performance.
• Implement KPIs, performance management systems, and succession planning.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, internal controls, and local regulations.

Stakeholder & Risk Management:

• Manage relationships with suppliers, EPC partners, regulators, donors, and investors.
• Assess and mitigate operational and financial risks.
• Ensure business continuity planning across Sana’a and Aden operations.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or MBA is a strong advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in solar energy and/or sustainable energy systems.
• Proven experience in senior managerial or executive leadership roles.
• Demonstrated P&L management responsibility in project-based or energy businesses.
• Exposure to Middle East markets and regional expansion strategies is a strong advantage.
