Project objectives: 

The Yemen Joint Response (YJR) 2024-2026 has been developed in line with the priority locations, sectors, activities and approaches defined in the YJR Protracted Crisis Mechanism (PCM) guidelines, a collaborative effort with partner organizations. It was shaped by the discerned needs and gaps, ascertained through individual needs assessments, secondary data sources, and cluster consultations. This comprehensive three-year YJR initiative is primarily focused on the governorates of Sa’ada, Hajjah, Marib, Taiz, Lahj, Aden, and Al Dhale’e. These areas represent the highest concentration of individuals in need of humanitarian assistance, where the most severe needs and gaps persist. 
The response proposes an integrated Health, Food Security and Livelihood (FSL), Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Protection, Multi-Purpose Cash (MPC), and protection mainstreaming programme. 
The objective is to provide multifaceted, life-saving humanitarian support to those in need, prioritising the most vulnerable population. Simultaneously, it aims to facilitate early recovery and enhance the resilience of communities affected by the conflict in Yemen. It is essential that all activities are designed to ensure equitable access to assistance for women, girls, boys, men, and people with disabilities (PWD). 
These activities are built upon existing initiatives, allowing partners to fine-tune their programs based on lessons learned and align with the specific needs outlined in the assessments for each sector. The YJR has set a goal to extend its reach to a total of 412,684 individuals.

Purpose /Objectives:

The Hygiene Promotion team leader will be responsible to plan and organize the WASH activities foor the CBOs in Aden and Lahj for the community awareness on hygiene related issues, community mobilization and monitoring and reporting of all the HP activities concerning hygiene communities’ awareness campaigns and sessions, beside identifying problems and reporting on WASH needs and concerns in the target areas, and build the capacity of the CBOs, and deal with their reporting(check and validate) to be submitted to the project manager.

Responsibilities/duties:

1.    Work towards the achievement of overall goals through effective supervision of hygiene promotion related activities and lateral relations with CBOs.
2.    Plan, monitor and supervise the hygiene promoter and community hygiene volunteers’ activities of the CBOs, to ensure the quality of implementation in coordination with the WASH Coordinator 
3.    Support in distribution of hygiene kits and preparing the related reports
4.    Ensure appropriate community involvement and delivery of essential hygiene services and facilities.
5.    Ensure proper coordination of HP sessions and other activities in coordination with WASH Coordinator
6.    Ensure the capacity building of CBOs hygiene promoters and community hygiene volunteers,
7.    Monitor the hygiene promotion activities to ensure the quality of deliverable activities.
8.    Coordinate with the support department to ensure the proper implementation of the HP sessions
9.    Lead in preparing HP materials in coordination with WASH Coordinator
10.    Ensure archiving of the the related HP documents
11.    Prepare weekly/monthly reports of the HP activities
12.    Collect lessons learnt from the HP sessions
13.    Ensure that community/beneficiary feedback are collected and reported on regular basis;
14.    Any other task not here listed and necessary to the project achievement in the sector and area of assignment.

In addition to:

  • Adherence to Humanitarian principles of Neutrality, Impartiality, Independence and Humanity
  • Familiar with water quality standards and testing procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with different population groups (age, gender, social status, etc.)
  • Clear & timely communications to line management
  • Very good knowledge of INTERSOS project, abiding by INTERSOS internal rules and guidelines and respect INTERSOS Charter of Value and Code of Ethics 

Qualification/level requirements

Minimum requirements

  • A minimum Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or similar fields high desirable;
  • 2 years of professional experience working in hygiene promotion;
  • Prior experience in working and/or coordinating with other NGOs; 
  • Strong diplomatic, interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Training skills;
  • Native Arabic speaker with good knowledge of English 

Desirable requirements:

  • Knowledge of the area of responsibility;
  • Prior experience in WASH projects

Other requirements:

  • Attention to detail and structured way of approaching tasks;
  • Able to ensure quick quality delivery in stressful environment;
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and respect line management;
  • Ability to deal with heavy work pressure;
