IT Infrastructure Engineer (Servers, Storage, Backup, Cloud & Network) (2 Positions)

Position Summary

• ort, perform root cause analysis for complex cross-domain issues.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation (architecture diagrams, runbooks).
• Participate in an on-call rotation and lead infrastructure projects.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Technical Proficiency

You must have strong hands-on experience in at least three of these five core domains:

• Servers & Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Windows/Linux OS, Hyper-V.
• Storage & Data: SAN/NAS administration, fibre channel, iSCSI, NFS/SMB.
• Backup & Recovery: Enterprise BCDR tools (Veeam, Commvault, etc.).
• Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud (IaaS & Networking).
• Networking: Enterprise-grade switching/routing, firewalls, VPN, DNS/DHCP. (CCNA-level knowledge or equivalent experience is a minimum).

Server Infrastructure (On-prem & Cloud)

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers (Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V).
• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, patch management, and capacity planning.
• Automate server provisioning and management using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core services.

Storage & Data Management

• Administer enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS) from vendors like Dell EMC, NetApp, HPE, or Pure Storage.
• Configure storage provisioning, tiering, replication (sync/async), and performance optimization.
• Implement and manage data lifecycle and archiving strategies.

Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity

• Design, implement, and manage robust backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity, Azure Backup, AWS Backup).
• Ensure RPOs and RTOs are met through regular testing of backup integrity and recovery procedures.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Cloud Platform Management (Azure/AWS/GCP)

• Architect, deploy, and manage IaaS and PaaS services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Databases).
• Implement hybrid-cloud connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN, Direct Connect) and identity integration.
• Optimize cloud resources for performance, cost, and security using native tools and FinOps principles.

Security & Compliance

• Harden systems following industry benchmarks (CIS) and implement security best practices.
• Manage vulnerability remediation and participate in security audits.
• Ensure infrastructure compliance with relevant regulations (GDPR, SOX, HIPAA as applicable).

General & Collaborative Duties

• Provide Tier 3 support, troubleshoot complex issues, and perform root cause analysis.
• Create and maintain detailed system documentation, diagrams, and runbooks.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support.
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams on projects and initiatives.
• Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Proven expertise in:
  • Server virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Enterprise storage and backup/recovery technologies.
  • At least one major public cloud platform (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Windows and Linux server administration.
  • Core networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, load balancers).
• Strong scripting and automation skills.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., VMware VCP, Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, Veeam Certified Engineer).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).

Required General Skills

• 5+ years of progressive infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of how server, storage, network, and cloud layers interact.
• Proficient in scripting for automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Highly Preferred

• Professional certifications in relevant areas (e.g., VMware VCP, Azure/AWS Architect, Veeam Certified Engineer, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of monitoring stacks (Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds, Grafana).
• Experience with container networking (Kubernetes, Docker).
