Position Title: Project Assistant (Shelter, Land and Site Coordination)
Unit: Shelter, Land and Site Coordination
Duty Station: Marib - Yemen
Type of Contract: Sub-Contract to Stars Orbit Consultants and Management Development / Monthly Contract
Duration of Appointment: Three (3) months, with possibility of extension subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds

Context/Reporting line:
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager (Shelter, Land and Site Coordination), the Field Coordinator, and the Project Officer, and under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme/Operations Associate, the Project Assistant (SLSC) will support the implementation of day-to-day Land and Site Coordination activities in the field in Marib. The incumbent will also support broader Shelter activities, as required, as part of the Shelter, Land and Site Coordination (SLSC) programme.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
1. Assist with the implementation of Shelter, Land and Site Coordination activities related to the project assigned, conducting day-to-day activities, including assessments, distributions, and verification processes.
2. Support the administrative coordination of needs assessments, focus group discussions, and community engagement activities with affected communities and beneficiaries, in coordination with the Senior Programme/Operations Associate, maintaining positive relationships with beneficiaries, community representatives, community leaders, to facilitate IOM’s work at the field level.
3. Collect and submit assessments, distribution, focus group discussion (FGD), and daily progress reports, verifying accuracy and timely delivery to supervisors.
4. Assist in monitoring the effectiveness of Shelter, Land and Site Coordination activities to verify they are in line with the activity scope, requirements, and conditions of the contract agreement. Report any irregularities or quality issues immediately to the Senior Programme/Operations Associate.
5. Provide administrative support to the Senior Programme/Operations Associate, including assistance with preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and other operational needs for Shelter, Land and Site Coordination activities as requested.
6. Consolidate field data related to the assigned activities and assist in preparing activity updates and reports as requested.
7. Collect, organize and maintain all required data and documents for assigned activities, keeping beneficiary and project-related records in a systematic and organized manner.
8. Capture and document success stories and other impact-related content for the assigned activities.
9. Act as focal point for hourly/daily site assistants as needed, maintaining attendance records and supporting the processing of remuneration in line with established procedures.
10. Perform any other duties as may be assigned to support the effective implementation of Shelter, Land and Site Coordination activities
Required Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma with four years of relevant professional experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Procurement and Logistics or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience and Skills:
- Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable populations.
- Prior experience working with international humanitarian organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), or government institutions in a multicultural environment is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in Land and Site Coordination (LSC) programming.
- Experience in Area-Based Site Management (ABSM) programming is an advantage.
- Experience in community engagement, community mobilization, and participatory approaches, including liaising with community leaders, committees, and affected populations.
- Experience in implementing Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities.
- Experience supporting Shelter and Settlements projects is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as other relevant software applications.
- Experience in data collection, reporting, and activity monitoring is desirable
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work in challenging field environments and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in collecting, compiling and maintaining project data and records is an advantage.
- Knowledge of electronic survey tools (e.g. Kobo Toolbox) is an advantage.
- Good reporting and coordination skills
Languages:
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).
