1.    Job Profile

The SBCC & PSFP Officer supports the implementation and monitoring of Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) and Preventive Supplementary Feeding Programme (PSFP) activities at the field level. The officer promotes positive nutrition behaviours through community mobilization, awareness campaigns, and culturally appropriate communication materials targeting host communities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and refugees. S/he works closely with community volunteers, staff, and government structures to ensure effective delivery of nutrition and PSFP messages. The role includes supporting behaviour change interventions, monitoring programme quality and progress, collecting and analysing data, and preparing timely reports. The officer also provides technical support to field teams, ensures that community feedback is integrated into programming, and contributes to coordination, documentation of best practices, and continuous improvement of SBCC and PSFP interventions.

2.    Key responsibilities 

Context background;

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of SBCC and PSFP activities at the field level in line with program objectives and operational plans.
  • Promote positive nutrition behaviors through community mobilization, awareness sessions, and culturally appropriate communication approaches.
  • Coordinate with community health workers, volunteers, partners, and government structures to ensure effective delivery of nutrition and PSFP messages.
  • Monitor the quality and progress of SBCC and PSFP interventions, identify challenges, and support timely corrective actions.
  • Collect, analyze, and report program data to support informed decision-making and continuous program improvement.
  • Provide technical support and capacity building to field teams and ensure community feedback is integrated into program implementation.

Relationships Management 

  • Collaborate closely with field teams to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of SBCC and PSFP activities.
  • Act as a key liaison between community structures, field teams, partners, and central management to ensure clear communication and coordination.
  • Work with community health workers, volunteers, and outreach teams to promote consistent and effective nutrition and PSFP messaging.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with government health structures, partners, and local stakeholders to support program objectives.
  • Coordinate with MEAL and reporting teams to ensure accurate data collection, documentation, and performance tracking.
  • Support teamwork and collaboration by promoting open communication, knowledge sharing, and proactive problem-solving across all levels of implementation.

Key deliverable (main duties, with sub-tasks)  

  • Support the planning and implementation of SBCC and PSFP activities, including community outreach sessions, awareness campaigns, and nutrition promotion activities.
  • Develop and adapt culturally appropriate SBCC materials and messages to promote positive maternal, infant, and young child feeding practices.
  • Conduct community mobilization and sensitization activities among IDPs and host communities to increase awareness and participation in nutrition and PSFP programs.
  • Work closely with community health workers, volunteers, and outreach teams to ensure consistent and effective delivery of nutrition and PSFP messages.
  • Monitor the implementation and quality of SBCC and PSFP interventions, ensuring activities are delivered according to approved plans and standards.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze program data and community feedback to support reporting, program improvement, and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, maintain proper documentation, and ensure records of activities and outreach sessions are organized and accessible.
  • Provide technical support and on-the-job guidance to field teams and community structures on SBCC approaches and nutrition-related messaging.
  • Coordinate with government health structures, local authorities, and partners to support alignment and effective implementation of SBCC and PSFP activities.
  • Contribute to documenting lessons learned, best practices, and success stories to strengthen program quality and impact.

3.    Person Specification

Essential criteria (education degree, years of experience)1

  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine, nutrition, public health, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in humanitarian or development programs in medicine, nutrition, and public health.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with the ability to manage multiple operational tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) with strong IT skills to support reporting, documentation, and field coordination.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective implementation of field activities.
  • Experience in handling confidential data and maintaining data integrity is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage daily field operations, including monitoring, reporting, and coordination tasks.
  • Good understanding of how field responsibilities contribute to broader program objectives and how different team functions are integrated.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with community members, partners, district authorities, and team members.

Desirable criteria

  • Familiarity with PSFP activity.
  • Understanding how field implementation and distribution systems align with organizational objectives and program goals.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including district authorities, community leaders, and beneficiaries, and facilitate coordination of meetings or briefings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support decision-making and improve operational efficiency in the field
