About SOUL
SOUL for Development is a national NGO, founded in February 1997 by a group of Yemeni professionals out of their desire to achieve a higher quality of life for Yemeni women and children. Since its inception, it has implemented over 80 development interventions in 18 out of Yemen's 22 governorates, benefiting over 5, 500,000 people. As a result, the organization has established itself among the most effective civil society organizations in Yemen that are working on health, education, and WASH issues in support of women, children, and youth. Operating out of its Headquarters in Sana’a and its offices in Taiz and Aden, SOUL, provides critical educational, health, and WASH services to urban and rural communities.
Job Information
- Job Title: SBCC Officer.
- Location: Aden.
- Contract Type: Full Time.
- Contract Duration: 5 Month.
- Start Date: As soon as possible.
Job Description:
The SBCC Officer will design, implement, and evaluate social and behavior change communication strategies that foster positive health and nutrition practices among caregivers and community influencers. She/ he will develop and pretest SBCC materials posters, brochures, videos, or digital content. Monitor intervention reaches and effectiveness, and produce regular reports to guide adaptive program management. Overall, SBCC Officer play a vital role in fostering positive changes in behavior and attitudes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Senior Field Officer to plan and oversee SBCC activities aligned with Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) key messages.
- Establish and maintain communication with central and district-level stakeholders, including the General Health Office (GHO), District Health Offices (DHOs), community leaders, and local NGOs.
- Develop the SBCC work plan and ensure implementation of all activities according to the approved work breakdown structure and budget.
- Supervise CHNVs and HWs by Conducting routine field visits to West Coast, reviewing monthly activity reports, photo documentation, Providing on-the-job coaching and corrective feedback
- Monitor and report on SBCC interventions on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Represent SOUL for Development in technical working groups, nutrition clusters, and inter-agency coordination meetings.
- Lead the development and pretesting of SBCC materials and standard operating procedures, ensuring they are user-friendly and culturally appropriate.
- Gather community feedback on SBCC activities, analyze insights, and adjust strategies or materials as needed.
- Participate in developing case studies and innovative ideas.
- Organize and facilitate regular coordination meetings with CHNVs and HWs to review implementation progress and address emerging issues.
- Ensure all SBCC interventions adhere to SOUL organization quality standards, donor requirements, and ethical guidelines.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager to support project objectives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Health, Nutrition, Food Science & Technology, Development Studies, Sociology, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 Years of experience designing and implementing SBCC or nutrition education programs in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Proven ability to develop, pretest, and adapt SBCC/IEC materials for diverse audiences.
- Experience training, mentoring, and supervising community-based volunteers and frontline health workers.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a track record of meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with nutrition or program-management databases.
- Creative thinker with adaptability to rapidly changing field conditions and resource constraints.
