PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian NGO which, for more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Solidarités International (SI) is determined to prevent and fight all type of abuse – all act of exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment (SEAH) against members of beneficiary communities or collaborators, fraud, corruption, violation of persons and/or property, funding of activities harmful to human rights – that could be perpetrated in the frame of its interventions. DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
MISSION / OBJECTIVES
Under the direct supervision of the Line Manager and the overall management of the Food security and Livelihood Program Manager, the FSL Officer will implement, monitor and report FSL activities, ensuring that Solidarities International technical recommendations and procedures are followed. The FSL Officer will be part of a program aimed at supporting animal health through a veterinary mobile clinic and training for animal health workers, while also supporting communities and vulnerable households through income-generating activities, including business grants and agricultural activities. The officer is expected to: He/she will comply with the core humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality, humanity, and independence as well as with the principles and mandate of Solidarities International at all times.
Main Responsibilities:
DIAGNOSTIC AND PROJECT CONCEPTION
- Conduct assessments, surveys and focus groups discussions to identify FSL needs and priorities of target communities. Participate in the analysis of the local environment to identify needs, requests, or contextual limitations that might have an impact on the field operations.
- Identify relevant stakeholders, community leaders, activists in target areas and facilitate community mobilization to ensure community participation at all stages of project cycle.
- Prepare and conduct awareness raising, information sharing and consultation sessions with communities and make sure that the projects and the selection criteria are well understood and accepted by the communities.
- Report any relevant additional information collected or observed in the field that could be of relevance for the decision making and the implementation of the activities.
IMPLEMENTATION AND OPERATIONAL FOLLOW-UP
- Implements activities as per weekly work plans and guidance.
- Support the preparation of BoQs and purchase links; Manage the supply of the worksite materials and tools in collaboration with logistics department
- Monitors field activities using SI standards and tools and provide technical support to beneficiaries.
- Take part in the evaluation of the technical competence of contractors.
- Supervise contractors and engage with communities and ensure the best use of available resources.
- Establish and enforces safety and security measures for all activities.
- Delivers technical support and capacity building to beneficiaries in areas such as agriculture, income generation, financial literacy, and business development.

PROJECT SPECIFIC TASKS:
- Coordinate the provision of veterinary services through mobile clinics/ Identify para-vets and veterinary specialists
- Support in the design of training manuals and monitoring tools for animal health, agricultural and income generating activities based on local context.
- Assist in identifying community-based animal-health workers & train and mentor CAHWs.
- Identify gaps in the local market and promote the development of relevant businesses and agricultural ventures to address these gaps.
- Implement on-site income-generating and agriculture activities, ensuring proper disbursement of cash grants and agricultural inputs according to distribution SOPs.
- Conduct regular monitoring visits to beneficiaries, veterinary services (animal health) and after each cash grant disbursement to assess implementation, business plans and provide technical guidance.
- Initiate farmer groups, demonstration plots to enhance agricultural productivity and business opportunities.
- Support the initiation of community sensitization campaign and training on the concept of women's Savings and Loans Associations (SLAs).
REPORTING/ COMMUNICATION/REPRESENTATION
- Ensure the data collected, reports and follow-up tools are updated regularly and safely archived/handed to the Line Manager.
- Ensure that activities under his/her responsibility are followed up.
- Take part in training related to project objectives when requested by the Line Manager.
- Report to the Line Manager on the progress, problems/ risks/ safety issues of the activities he/she oversees.
- Listen to and coordinate with the local population and authorities to identify any needs, complaints, or major events which could affect the activities of Solidarities.
- Analyze the humanitarian situation by considering protection issues/Do No Harm to the population.
- Take part in lessons learnt workshops and other program evaluation activities.
- Ensure accurate reporting on indicators and beneficiary reach.
- Represent Solidarities International at local level when requested by the Line Manager.
- Carry out any related office work such as data entry or any other duties requested by the Line Manager.
- Adhere to SI’s standard operational procedures.
- Ensure positive relationship and good communication practices with different support departments.

Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably Agriculture, Animal husbandry or any related field.
- Prior NGO/INGO experience 2 years minimum in food security.
- Experience in implementing and monitoring livelihood activities
- Knowledge of the local humanitarian context.
- Good understanding of the security context.
- Proactive, motivated, and organized.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, basic knowledge of English is required.
- Good analytical and writing/editing skills.
- Good communication and community engagement skills.
- Interpersonal skills, reliability, honest, accountability, resistance to stress, team player, good prioritization of task, Management skills, Planning skills, flexibility to meet deadlines.
