Background
NRC has been actively engaged in Shelter/WASH sector in Yemen, with good presence in Lahj, Taiz, Marib and Abyan governorates, where conflict and repeated displacement continue to disrupt IDPs access to safe and quality living include Shelter and WASH facilities. The ongoing humanitarian crisis has left displaced population under-resourced, overcrowded, and vulnerable to future shocks. NRC’s Shelter/WASH interventions in Lahj, Taiz, Marib and Abyan focus on restoring good quality living condition opportunities for crisis-affected displacement population, supporting community-based planning, and promoting inclusive and protective environments.
Shelter/ WASH Assistant plays a key role in implementing NRC’s Shelter/ WASH strategy at the field level. This includes supporting camps improvement planning, disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives, and emergency preparedness in coordination with communities, and authorities. This position operates within an established Shelter/WASH program and requires strong collaboration with internal teams (such as Protection, FSL and Education) as well as external actors, including local authorities and cluster partners
Responsibilities
Roles and responsibilities
As a part of Shelter/WASH Team, the role shares a collective responsibility to coordinate, undertake, monitor and deliver the activities outlined in the project’s documents as per NRC standards.
Shelter/WASH IM Assistant in Aden will be responsible for leading NRC’s Shelter/ WASH interventions in the targeted areas. The Shelter/WASH Technical Assistant (Information Management) supports the implementation of sector activities across NRC-managed sites in the southern governorates. The position is responsible for managing all information and databases for IDP sites, including population lists, movement trackers, NRC site-matrix records, and related IM tools, and for ensuring timely and accurate updates to all cluster systems such as Activity Info. The role conducts assessments, supports beneficiary selection, monitors field activities, and ensures that reliable, high-quality data is collected, validated, and available to guide planning, reporting, and operational decision-making.
Generic Responsibilities
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action.
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
- Ensure proper filing of documents.
- Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function Responsible for: assessment, vulnerable beneficiary selection, project planning, implementation and monitoring for Shelter/WASH/CCCM activities
- Collection and analysis Shelter/WASH data and report to Shelter/WASH officer.
- Produce reports on weekly, monthly and require base as well.
- Development of holistic and needs based programmes, including cash-based interventions and marked based programmes
Specific responsibilities:
Information Management & Data Systems
- Manage Beneficiary Database Oversee the beneficiary database management system, ensuring accurate entry of beneficiary data into database software by inputting both alphabetic and numeric information through the keyboard or importing data from host pages and web sources.
- Program Data Management Manage various program data and enter this information into the appropriate database. Prepare source data for computer entry by compiling and organizing information from multiple sources. Transfer data from paper formats to digital formats using computers as necessary.
- Data Updating and Maintenance Regularly update any changes in project-related data and other information received from field staff, ensuring accuracy under the supervision of the project manager.
- Data Verification Verify data integrity by meticulously checking and comparing source documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Organize Documentation Organize paper formats, backups, and source files in a structured manner to ensure easy retrieval and reference as needed.
- Data Security Secure sensitive information by performing regular database backups and following data privacy protocols.
- Problem Identification and Resolution Identify any issues with the database and take appropriate actions to resolve them, collaborating with your line manager for effective solutions.
- Compliance with Data Regulations Adhere to all data privacy and security rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and standards.
- Data Editing and Cleaning Edit, clean, and update periodically received data to maintain the accuracy and relevance of information in the database.
- Data Archiving and Organization Archive and organize both paper and digital data formats, ensuring that all records are systematically stored for future reference.
- Statistical Reporting Prepare periodic statistics on beneficiaries' information and organize this data into clear, readable visual charts. Develop and maintain the Shelter/WASH/CCCM Dashboard to provide stakeholders with insightful data visualizations.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders Collaborate with project teams, field staff, and other stakeholders to gather relevant data, ensuring comprehensive and accurate information collection for reporting and analysis.
- Assessment on site. assessment, identify needs and resources, Shelter/WASH type, data on returnees/ IDPs
- Beneficiary selection. Identify vulnerable families eligible for Shelter/WASH assistance according to established selection criteria.
- Delivery on site. Shelter/WASH package according to the plan and on time clearance.
- Provision and completion of all field-related forms, contracts and retain in profile.
- Responsible for quality maintenance of shelter/WASH in target area
- Monitor Shelter/WASH activities within the agreed timeframe and ensuring the quality and quantity of material is correct and according to the BoQs/DRWs/Specification.
- Support adherence to SoP during implementation of various Shelter/WASH activities in the targeted areas
- Conduct the meeting with community, leaders, local authority and other stakeholders at field level.
- Upon successful completion of Shelter/WASH reports to Shelter/WASH officer for progress report.
- Participate in field missions, Shelter/WASH activities monitoring, and technical assistance to beneficiaries.
- Ensure all program data are accurately collected and reported.
- Participate in NRC staff seminars and training, when scheduled.
- Any other tasks as assigned by the immediate superior.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (Education Degree is an asset)
- At least 2 years of working experience with the communities and INGOs.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills
- Fluency in English, both written and oral.
- Ability to rapidly understand the policy, strategic and institutional environment.
