Background

Jeel Albena Association for Humanitarian Development known as (JAAHD) is a National and Non-Governmental Association emerged in wake of the humanitarian crisis to help communities affected by conflict in Yemen. It provides emergency relief and direct assistance for the conflict-affected populations, IDPs, host communities, vulnerable groups and those people caught up in extraordinary life-threatening situations. JAAHD has a presence in Al Hudaydah, Hajjah, Almahweet, Raymah & Ibb with the aim of building up protection capacities for people in displacement and finding durable solutions for them upon return.

General Summary:

The Social Worker will manage individual protection cases—HLP, GBV, and child protection—and coordinate community outreach to identify, refer, and follow up on Persons With Specific Needs (PWSNs).

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Register and manage HLP cases: intake, risk assessment, action-plan development, and coordination of cash disbursement in two installments.
  • Identify GBV and CP incidents during outreach; conduct confidential interviews, apply “do no harm,” and facilitate referrals to specialized services.
  • Collaborate with Protection Monitors to maintain community protection networks and conduct periodic vulnerability re-assessments.
  • Organize and facilitate community resilience workshops on safe shelter practices, legal rights, and self-help strategies.
  • Conduct home visits for high-risk households, monitor progress against action plans, and adjust support as needed.
  • Participate in Child Protection, GBV, and HLP working group meetings; share field findings and represent JAAHD case-management experiences.
  • Develop and maintain a community referral directory for health, legal, shelter, and psychosocial services; update regularly.
  • Mentor community volunteers to support peer-led support groups for widows, PWDs, and older persons.
  • Document case milestones, stakeholder coordination, and closure outcomes in the case-management database daily.
  • Draft monthly narrative and quantitative protection trend reports, highlighting systemic barriers and recommendations.
  • Lead development of a district-wide directory of community-based organizations, service providers, and safe-space locations for quick referrals.
  • Mentor and supervise a network of volunteer community focal points (IDP and host-community representatives) for early case identification.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, social work, counseling or closely related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in humanitarian social work or case-management.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with case management principles, standards and procedures, including relevant roll-out of SOPs for different protection typologies.
  • Training in Protection Cluster SOPs, GBV, and CP protocols.
  • Empathy, active listening, and professional boundaries.
  • Strong community-engagement and inter-agency coordination.
  • Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of JAAHD.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills, observation and analysis capacity.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven and excellent sense of organization.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with PSEA, AAP best practices, and “do no harm” principles.
  • Arabic fluency; English proficiency is an asset.
  • High cultural sensitivity and commitment to inclusive, community-driven approaches.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
