• Job Title: Agricultural Field Officer (Agricultural Engineer)

2- Overall Purpose/Broad Function:    

Under the direct supervision of the Project Officer, the Agricultural Field Officer plans, coordinates, supervises and reports on agricultural extension and related livestock livelihood activities in accordance with approved work plans, donor requirements and TYF policies, supporting productive households and market access.

3- Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and update the agricultural extension plan for target groups.
• Develop climate-smart agriculture training materials and a briefing workshop for agricultural extension facilitators on the materials and extension plan.
• Supervise field training sessions delivered by agricultural extension facilitators.
• Oversee livestock vocational training groups and their donor-funded livelihood projects.
• Conduct regular field visits and assess facilitators’ and groups’ performance.
• Collect and analyze extension data, compare changes against baseline information and recommend improvements.
• Plan and supervise market assessments and link producer groups and products to local markets.
• Identify group-specific challenges and adjust field arrangements and follow-up actions.
• Prepare field forms, extension materials and supporting tools.
• Review, receive and archive periodic reports and supporting documents; submit weekly and monthly reports to the Project Officer.

4- Responsibilities/Task Description:

• Prepare group-specific extension schedules and field follow-up arrangements.
• Cover climate-smart agriculture, post-harvest practices, value addition, and fodder production and preservation.
• Organize and deliver an orientation workshop for extension facilitators on training content, session delivery and the extension plan.
• Review field session delivery, attendance records and supporting documents.
• Follow up productive household progress and document changes against baseline data.
• Assess market opportunities by geographic area and support product–market linkages.
• Follow up livestock livelihood groups, their training and funded projects.
• Coordinate field activities with local authorities, community groups and relevant project departments.
• Document implementation challenges, lessons learned and corrective actions.

Internal and External Coordination

• Coordinate with the Project Officer, MEAL and relevant internal departments.
• Liaise with local authorities, extension facilitators, community groups and market actors.

General Responsibilities

• Adhere to TYF policies, humanitarian principles and donor requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality, integrity and timely communication.
• Comply with safeguarding and safety and security procedures.

Job Requirements :

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering or Agriculture.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in agricultural extension and field implementation.
• Agricultural extension planning, field training and supervision.
• Market assessment, producer-group support and reporting.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; Kobo/ODK is an asset.
• Fluency in Arabic and good working knowledge of English.
