Organisation background
Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety co-ordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including reporting, analysis, recommendations, and training to support safe humanitarian access.
INSO provides daily support to more than 1,200 NGOs operating in 22 of the world’s most insecure countries. INSO is headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands, the international city of peace and justice.
INSO Yemen
INSO has been providing services in South Yemen based in Aden to support overall humanitarian access since 2024. INSO is now looking to grow its Programme Team to provide insightful and tailor-made advice and support for NGOs.
Overall Purpose of Role
The Assistant Safety Advisor (ASA) will work with the Deputy Safety Advisor (DSA) and will be responsible for assisting the Safety Advisor (SA) to fulfil INSO’s core mission of helping NGOs understand the context and mitigate risks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Compile and maintain the office’s weekly incident list through incident collection and verification
- Conduct bespoke research to assist with the office’s analytical products
- When requested, support in issuing out Alerts
- Assist the SA in liaising with partner organisation for daily services
- Serve in the role of DSA when he/she is on leave or out of the office
- Verbal and written translation to the SA upon request and when applicable
- Maintain and expand contacts with NGOs operating in the south of Yemen
- Maintain regular/daily communication with contacts in the field
- Maintain flexibility when requested to support outside of working hours
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum of two to three years professional work experience and at least 1 year experience working with NGOs (preferably in the field of access or safety)
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Profound skills in providing analysis based on empirical data
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Windows and Office programs—especially MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Outlook

INSO’s Safeguarding Policy
